Getting the most out of Open Days
Open Days are a really good way to find out more about a university/course you are interested in.
Why should I go?
There is only so much you can glean from a website or prospectus. Open Days give you a chance to experience the university environment and can be really helpful in making your decision.
Visiting in person gives you the chance to:
· Tour the campus, facilities and accommodation and explore the local area
· Chat with current students and staff
· Attend sample lectures and general talks about university life, student finance etc.
How do I find out about them?
· Information about Open Days is on the university’s website, or you can see a complete list on www.opendays.com
· You’ll need to book a place and most people usually go along with friends or family.
How do I get the most from the day?
Do your research/prepare questions beforehand
· Plan the journey so you know the route and have plenty of time to arrive without rushing.
· Make a list of questions that you might want to ask while there. University staff really appreciate interested students and will be only too happy to talk to you.

It’s an exciting and tiring day and you may not remember everything
· Take some notes while you are there. If you are doing a few Open Day visits, it can be easy to forget what you saw and where you were!
· Make a shortlist of universities you want to apply to – you can choose up to five on your UCAS application form.
