Fall 2022 Financial Aid Night @ WHS : September 21st at 6:30pm - The School Counseling Department welcomes you to join a virtual event to explore the financial aid process as you begin to make important decisions regarding post-secondary education.. Topics covered in the workshop will include information pertaining to need-based aid, resources for merit aid, tax code incentives and minimizing student loans. A representative from the Barnam Financial Group will lead the workshop and then provide a question and answer session for parents/guardians.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Alumni Association and Foundation - Admissions Office will be hosting this special session for female applicants to answer any/all questions your students may have about service academy life.

We arranged for in-person Rep Visit days following area Spring College Fairs. Request permission from your teacher to leave class, sign an attendance sheet in the College Career Center and meet with Admission Reps / Officers. The Reps are often the ones who will “read” your application. The visits are informal, informational sessions not interviews.  Bring your questions and / or interests to the College Career Resource Center located in the Counseling hallway.

ATTENTION FRESHMEN: Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) One-Day Program (CLeW): HOBY’s introductory one-day program for high school freshmen focuses on leadership as a discipline to be explored and learned. Program participants interact with community leaders, participate in group activities, and conduct community service projects. Our rigorous four-year academic program is highlighted by the Academy’s Sea Year experience. Through this unique program, every student gains real-world leadership experience working aboard commercial ships sailing to ports around the world during three academic terms. Our students pursue a degree in one of five majors offered through two Academic Departments: Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation. Students receive full tuition, room and board, and books at no cost.

 

Graduates of the United States Merchant Marine Academy earn a Bachelor of Science degree, a U.S. Coast Guard license, and a commission in the United States Armed Forces. Our graduates have an option to work as ship’s officers in the United States maritime industry or serve as commissioned officers on active duty in any branch of service.
