Volunteers:
Volunteers play an important role in helping students to be successful at Speight. There are many ways volunteers can assist around the school. Some examples including helping in the media center, helping with beautification of schools grounds, and helping proctor during EOGs. Parents who wish to volunteer, should contact the front office.
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and be approved by the principal and district prior to volunteering at a school in Wilson County. Applications can be completed on Volunteer Tracker. Click this link to apply: appgarden6.app-garden.com/VolTrackNC980.nsf
The volunteer's interests and abilities are considered when making assignments. Assignments and continuation of the services of a volunteer shall be at the principal's discretion. Volunteers are bound by the standards of conduct for school employees provided in the board policy manual.
Visitors:
All visitors (including parents and volunteers) must check in with the front office when entering the school building. Visitors will sign in electronically and get a visitors pass. If the system is not functioning properly, a paper sign-in sheet will be provided.
Visiting Classrooms: Parents who wish to visit a classroom during instructional time, should make an appointment to do so through our Principal, Ms. Budd.
Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO)
Speight has an active PTSO comprised of parents, teachers, and students. Our students have a voice at our meetings. A teacher representative from each grade level attends our PTSO meetings. Meetings are held monthly, usually on the second Tuesday at 6:00PM. All families are welcome to attend.
