Throughout each day it is important to reflect on your learning-- especially how you are feeling about the material and whether you need help. After lessons, we will take time to reflect on what we have learned and use numbers to share with me how you feel. As 4th graders, you will be practicing your self advocacy skills, like asking for help when needed. The levels of understanding will help you do this and assist me in helping you, too! Sometimes we will write them on our work, other times we might show them with our hands. Check them out below.
Throughout the year, some assignments will be checked for completion and others will be graded based on our learning goals. Sometimes we will grade our work together, and other times I will collect it to return later.
Meets Standard: You completed the work mostly independently and showed strong understanding of the goal. You are confident with your skills in this area.
Making Progress: You completed the work with some assistance and showed some understanding of the goal. You are still growing your skills in this area.
Experiencing Difficulty: You had difficulty completing work with help, or it was incomplete, and did not show understanding of the goal. You will check in with me and make corrections to help you grow your skills in this area.
Progress reports will be made available online twice a year, once in the winter and once in the spring. In the winter, it is entirely typical for students to receive more P grades, as we are likely still in the middle of completing a unit and the students have not been fully assessed yet!
