“If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear.”
Joanna Macy
This is a 6-week, all-outdoors, experiential group for helpers, healers, therapists, caregivers, and others who hold space for people in pain. Rooted in Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects, each gathering offers a steady rhythm of guided nature-based practice, reflection, and community support, so you can reconnect with what sustains you while living and working in a changing world.
Each week you can expect:
Arrival + grounding (gentle somatic settling and orienting to place)
Guided time on the land (solo and supported practices, sensory attention, “sit spot,” mindful wandering)
Structured group reflection (council-style sharing, paired inquiry, and spacious listening)
Ritual and meaning-making (simple, accessible practices for gratitude, grief, and integration, always invitational)
Practical integration for helpers (brief, grounded takeaways for resourcing, boundaries, and carrying this work into daily life and care work without turning the group into a training)
Re-Membering & Belonging
Gratitude & Reciprocity
Honoring our Pain in the World
Seeing with New & Ancient Eyes
Integration & What We Carry
What We Take With Us
Each week we will meet at a different park or green space throughout Austin. In the past, we have met at Urban Roots Farm, Casa De Miel, Pease Park, and Roy G. Park. We will wait until our group is formed to finalize all 6 locations. If you have a favorite park or spot you'd like to recommend, there will be a place to share on the registration form.
