NBC (Nothin’ But Cuties) is the student-directed hip-hop dance team at Williams College. Founded in 1999, NBC is dedicated to producing and performing original choreography in various hip-hop styles, and has grown to incorporate a wide variety of dance including modern and ballroom. We perform at our end-of-the-semester show, one of which we collaborate with the Sankofa step team, at the halftime show for Homecoming, and at other smaller events. We also teach several workshops during the year.
Williams Ski Patrol (WSP) is a group of volunteer ski and snowboard patrollers at Jiminy Peak (~20 mins from campus), providing first aid to those in need, working in tandem with professional patrollers. All of our members take the Outdoor Emergency Care course to become certified by the National Ski Patrol. We intend to offer this first aid certification as a second quarter fall PE, and will update interested students on the plan.
The club provides first aid and tuning equipment, as well as patrol jackets, for the ski season. Volunteer patrollers ski for free at Jiminy when on duty.
We are a mixed volleyball team that practices four times a week. No experience necessary to join and practices are optional. For those looking for competition, we compete in a men's league during the winter and often go to Nationals for 5 days in April.
We are a student run dance group founded in 2006, that covers dances and genres from Folklorico to Salsa, and from Dembow y Reggeaton to Bachata y Merengue, and many more. Friendly Visitors is a group of students who dedicate their Sunday afternoons every week to visiting the Williamstown Commons senior center. At the center, students develop meaningful, personal relationships with residents, as well as engage in activities, such as crafts, with a group of residents. Friendly Visitors is dedicated to giving students an opportunity to go out into the community and get to know local residents.
Lehman serves to promote, foster, and maintain a spirit of service on campus by organizing and supporting many different community-oriented service projects. Our biggest projects are our Fall and Spring Great Days of Service which engage the wider campus in many projects. We also host other smaller ongoing and pop-up projects including Winter Study Service Week, meal and clothing donations drives, and volunteering at local schools, elderly homes, homeless shelters, hospitals and farms.
Converging Worlds is “devoted to inspiring a diversity of thought within the Williams College community” by cultivating positive correspondence between Williams students and some of the most marginalized members of our society— people who the carceral state has erased. CW initiatives include creative projects on campus and concrete programming in the community. CW continues to encourage critical thought and action aimed at establishing viable alternatives to our current carceral state.
Parlor Tricks is a student magazine dedicated to publishing the best creative work at Williams College. College Dems aims to mobilize students to participate in the political process, outside of voting. This will take the form of writing policy briefs to help local voters understand candidates’ platforms, hosting/participating talks with candidates, attending local Democratic Conventions, phone banking, canvassing, Get Out the Vote efforts, campaigning in New Hampshire, helping in areas that face voter suppression, etc. We are always hosting events and hope you will join some of them!
BDP (Berkshire Doula Project) is a student organization that focuses on reproductive wellness. We host events like Menstruation and Masturbation Celebration, as well as 2 IUD/ abortion doula trainings. Once you have completed our training, you can go to local health clinics and be an IUD/ abortion doula for live patients.
In Kusika, we practice and perform dance, music, and storytelling. Kusika, which means “to create” in the language of the Shona people, finds inspiration rooted in tradition and innovation, studying art throughout the African continent and the African diaspora. We have worked with our faculty directors, guest artists, and our peers from other performance groups. We are so excited to meet the incoming Class of 2024 and invite you all to audition to join our family! We meet around twice a week; no experience is necessary.
Williams Anime club is an organization for students with an interest in watching, discussing and admiring the art form of Japanese Anime. As part of our annual tradition, we attend the Anime Boston convention in Spring.
Students with the Assist program will be paired up with an elementary school buddy from either Greylock or Brayton elementary school in North Adams. Williams students will provide guidance and mentorship for their buddy. Things will most likely take place over zoom, with the mentors acting as more of a tutor to the students. This is a super low commitment and the kids really love having a constant adult that is looking out for them!
We are a sketch comedy group that writes live and filmed comedy sketches, performed at the end of each semester. We also have standup comedy events and other related events throughout the year.
CISA aims to support immigrant students on campus by creating a safe space for immigrant students and those from immigrant families. We work with Williams' administration and organizations off-campus to support and advocate for immigrants at Williams and around the nation.
Our mission is to empower high-achieving, low-income high school students to make the leap to their best-fit colleges and universities. We train talented Williams College students to connect remotely with high-achieving, low-income high school students, providing the information, guidance, and support that these high school students need to navigate the college process.
We are all about fixing/building/learning about bikes! We have a fleet of about 40 bikes that we rent to students and we usually run open hours twice a week. No experience required to join, just interest. The PBC has about 6 mechanics working full-time in a normal year and is usually open to anyone at the school in a volunteer capacity during out open hours (traditionally 7-9pm on Tues/Thurs). This year, as a minimum expect some Zoom hangouts sharing knowledge about bike fixing.
WSO (Williams Students Online) is a student organization devoted to creating innovative and useful computer-based services and offering them to the Williams College community. The Student Choreographers’ Coalition (StuCho) was formed as an outlet for dancers at Williams to choreograph, rehearse, and perform together. StuCho dancers rehearse and perform in original pieces created by students. StuCho choreographers are welcome to invite any non-StuCho dancers to participate in their piece(s) if they so choose.
The MSU seeks to help campus Muslims with their spiritual needs and promote an open community where both Muslims and non-Muslims can gather to engage with Islam. The MSU hopes to serve its members by providing opportunities for intellectual exploration, Islamic learning, spiritual growth, and social programming. Lastly, the MSU strives to promote understanding between Muslims and other faith groups at Williams College in order to create a more educated and aware student body. We will hold the live talk starting at 9pm.
The Law Society brings together Williams students who have a common interest in law along with alumni, faculty, and professionals in fields relating to law through programs and activities dealing with or related to the field of law. It also promotes understanding of the legal profession, the rule of law, and the legal process while also identifying and discussing the bias and contemporary problems in our legal and justice system.
WCC is a community where people can climb together and help each other improve. We welcome both experienced climbers and new climbers who are interested in trying climbing! In normal years, we hold practices at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall, organize weekly trips to climb at the Edge in Albany, and attend 1-2 (optional) competitions per semester.
The Williams Musician's Association sponsors non-departmental musical performances from student singer-songwriters and bands. WMA organizes several coffeehouses, concerts, and events to give opportunities for student musicians to experience live performances and connect with other musicians. The goal is to bring students together to strengthen the music community and to provide a network for musicians to grow in a creative environment.
The Coed Wapo Team is a member of the Collegiate Water Polo Association with the ultimate goal of winning a Division and National Championship (or just one game during our season). Our team competes at three different weekend-long tournaments throughout the fall, culminating at the National Qualifying Tournament. The Freshman Revue, adorably dubbed "FRosh Revue" by the common man is a mysterious gathering of first years. Once a year, they crawl out of the ether and put on a show during Williams' Family Days. Of course, some years do not go as planned and, well, all we can do is laugh at our misfortunes like good children do. Improv comedy is our name and a scripted show is our game. Effective Altruism is a philanthropic movement which seeks to use evidence and reason to find the best ways to solve these tragedies. Fundamentally, EA wants to answer the question: “How can we do the most good?” EA Williams seeks to educate Williams students about EA issues and organizations, as well as high-impact career paths.
Ephoria (est.1979) is the oldest female-voiced a capella group at Williams. We were established shortly after women were admitted into Williams, and have been singing in the Purple Valley ever since! Ephoria meets weekly (and not just for rehearsals! We love having dinner dates and doing other fun things together), and we perform songs across all genres. We encourage anyone who identifies as female-voiced to audition, whether your talent is in singing, arranging, or beatboxing. UnICS seeks to create a safe, reliable, and productive environment within the Williams CS department for all current and prospective majors, but especially for underrepresented identities. Williams BSU is a group where Black African Ancestry can find emotional, academic, and social support. This means: providing a space which students can articulate concerns regarding the curriculum, general administration of the college; providing funds and a space for cultural and social events important to Black students; providing a support network that will enable Black students to achieve in the classroom in spite of financial and emotional obstacles that they may have.

Get Baked is a baking club on campus. We are composed of a heterogenous group of students who share a common interest of baking, cooking, eating, or all of the above :) we have monthly events on a select Friday usually in Mission kitchen from 4-10 pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to drop in and bake with us during that window, or you can stop by at 10pm just to eat all the yummy goods
The Zen Practice Group is a student-run organization that hosts meditations and other activities centered around contemplative practice. Despite the group's name, the ZPG does not focus solely on the Zen tradition; our members are engaged with a variety of meditative practices. Please join us if you have any interest in meditation. No Lost Generation is the Williams chapter of a national student group tasked by the U.S. Department of State with supporting refugees. NLG-Williams has expanded our focus to advocating for immigrants more broadly, particularly in the Berkshire region. We have hosted educational events on campus, assisted the Berkshire Immigrant Center in raising awareness, and fundraised for various organizations. We collaborate with the Center for Learning in Action and other student groups.
Zambezi is a Zimbabwean-style marimba band directed by Tendai Muparutsa that performs both traditional and pop music! We also play a variety of genres ranging from jazz to dance. You can check out some of our past performances on YouTube (just search 'Zambezi Marimba Band'). Zambezi is also a cross-department group, performing with the music and dance department!

OurSTEM+ was founded to promote sexual, gender, and racial minority representation within the STEM+ fields, which includes subjects like Economics and Psychology. OurSTEM+ works towards this goal by hosting events (like movie nights, faculty dinners, and informational seminars) that provide forums for those in the STEM+ fields to come together and build a network of support within Williams College for minority students in STEM.
CASO organizes various social gatherings that boost the local Chinese community at Williams and build a deeper appreciation of our culture on the Williams campus. We engage with Asian American issues and work with other MinCo groups to build cross-cultural dialogue. We also conduct a Big Sib and Fam program that pairs first-years with upperclassmen to build a stronger community within the organization. Everyone is welcome to join and participate in our events regardless of their background!
The Williams College Figure Skating Club aims to provide skaters of any level ice time to develop and practice their skating skills. Every year we perform an ice show at the Lansing Chapman Rink. Jazz at Williams is a collection of student musicians and music lovers who are interested in pursuing/enjoying live jazz and jazz-influenced music on and off campus. In the past we've hosted jam sessions and listening sessions, sponsored trips to see live music in NYC, and brought guest artists to campus for performances and masterclasses. This year we hope to create some playing opportunities (if restrictions permit), in addition to providing virtual listening and masterclass opportunities.
The Aristocows are Williams's only non-audition, all-Disney a cappella group! We are a chill group of friends who enjoy creating fun music together and spending time with each other. Normally, commitment is 3 hours a week and 2 concerts a year. This year, we are prioritizing informal social events to get to know each other while we're in various places around the world. Williams Environmental Council (WEC) is a club dedicated to making the Williams campus more sustainable and educating the student body about environmental issues. Our main event is Earth Week, a week of environmental-themed programming around Earth Day. We also collaborate with environmental groups off-campus. Some of our focuses have been working with Dining Services to serve more sustainable meals, expanding campus composting, and educating students about the college's carbon offset purchases.

We primarily work with businesses, nonprofits, and educational institutions based in the Berkshires, though we are excited to introduce new clients this year that span greater geography and scale. Account work may include developing business plans, conducting market diligence, analyzing data, and growing vertical expertise through field work. Are you interested in healthcare, volunteering, or applying to dental school? Join OHS! Our Smilemakers Program teaches kids about the importance of oral hygiene. In collaboration with a non-profit that helps refugees earn a GED, we're launching a phone call initiative to help students improve their communication skills. We attend virtual dental school visits, aid with pre-health/research summer program apps, and forward pre-health resources; activities are relevant for all pre-health students.
NovelTeas meets every two weeks to drink tea, eat snacks, and discuss different works of fiction recommended by the members. We read about three books per semester, so the time commitment isn't huge. Join if you love to read or just want to hang out with some cool literary people!
WARP is William's Tabletop gaming club. We meet every week to play various board games in an environment of fun camaraderie. We also occasionally organize Tabletop RPGs, such as D&D, and host other events from time to time. This year we are looking into ways we can continue to have fun while complying with the college’s physical distancing rules. We’ll be trying a number of new ideas, including moving some of our activities online. We hope you will join us!
The club's goals are to introduce students unfamiliar with entrepreneurship to the world of start-ups and to grow the interest of experienced students. As the college does not offer an undergraduate business program or classes dedicated to entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship at Williams allows students to pursue their interests in an organized setting. WRAPS is an organization that repackages dining hall surplus into individual meals that we deliver to our community partners in North Adams. We are devoted to supporting our community and advancing our campus's environmental sustainability.
The Springstreeters a cappella has been melting hearts since 1980. Our rehearsals are spaces for jokes and good times, but we take our music seriously, working hard to create original arrangements and tightly choreographed performances. Circle of Women is a student-run nonprofit that works to increase girls' access to secondary school education worldwide. We partner with international nonprofits to design projects and hold a variety of fundraising and awareness campaigns.
RASAN is a network of Williams students that strive to provide support for fellow students regarding instances of sexual assault and abuse. After completing peer-support training, members attend meetings where issues surrounding campus sexual assault are discussed as well as campus events are planned.
Mental Health Committee (MHC) aims to promote the psychological wellbeing of the campus community by creating spaces for conversations around mental health. In working toward this goal, we organize events that encourage students to engage in self care activities and share openly about their experiences with mental health. We further advocate for campus policies that address the mental health of students and serve as a liaison between the student community and Integrative Wellbeing Services.

¡Vive! is the campus' only Latin music performance group. Besides appreciation and playing numerous genres across the region, we also transpose our own music when we cannot find sheet music online. This semester, we will become more of a discussion based group; however, that does not mean we will not meet outside to jam, socially distanced of course. Open to people to all knowledge of Latin music. The only requirement is enthusiasm.
The Williams College Queer Student Union (QSU) is an organization meant to work towards the advocacy, advancement, and support for college's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and otherwise Queer-identifying students. We strive towards strengthening community at Williams for LGBTQ+ students in various ways, including, but not limited to: hosting events, such as regular discussion meetings and parties, collaborating with other groups on campus, and engaging with the wider Williams community.
We are Good Question A Cappella, better known arounds campus as GQ! (the magazine hasn't responded to our trademark infringement claim) We're an all-gender a cappella group that's a little different from other groups in that we don't audition for solos. Everyone will get a solo or duet at least once a year, and most importantly you get to bring in the song you want to sing! Incoming members are guaranteed a solo in their first semester. ABS is a student group meant to support the LGBTQ identifying students on campus who consider themselves athletes. ABS means to provide a safe and confidential space while also nurturing a casual, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere. The group functions to serve those who attend meetings, be it as a support group, a social sphere, a place to escape and hang out, or to engage in pointed and relevant discussion.
All Campus Entertainment (ACE) is a student-run organization that provides programming and entertainment for the student body of Williams College. We work to bring concerts, fairs, dances, movie nights, free food and a variety of other sources of entertainment to student life in the Purple Valley. ACE also functions as an informational resource for other student groups seeking to organize events.
We provide a space where students can learn and practice all forms of martial arts, strengthening their minds and bodies through practice of forms, self defense and sparring. It is a great opportunity to have exercise, learn something new, and have fun! Due to the current state of living, our practices will focus more on the 'form and focus' of martial arts rather than sparring aspects, but we hope to continue our practice safely with our shared interest in all things martial arts.
WUFO is Williams College’s ultimate frisbee team for male and gender non-conforming students. We've been a student organization at Williams since 1977, and currently compete at the USAU DIII level. Recruiting takes place in the fall and we encourage those of any skill level to come try out — the vast majority of WUFO members had no ultimate experience before their first practice!
Founded in 1986, the Williams College Gospel Choir (better known as GC) is a non-audition student performance group dedicated to song and prayer in the Christian Gospel tradition. Peer Health is a student-led organization dedicated to promoting the everyday health of Williams College students by providing both education and resources. We work with the Health Center and other departments, and various clubs on campus to coordinate fun events and offer services that support the needs of all students. We also serve as peer listeners through our Call In/Walk In program and provide sexual and general health supplies to the student body.
The Williams Telos is a Christian student publication of academic essays, personal essays, reviews, short fiction, poetry, and visual art. Telos is named after the Greek word τέλοϛ, which means "purpose, goal, or fulfillment” and represents a direction that can only be found through God. Through our annual publication and campus outreach, we are excited to share about the different ways that Jesus can speak into all aspects of our lives at Williams.
Williams Writers Overground (WWO) aims to serve creative writers in the Williams community. In the coming semester, we hope to hold outdoor meetings at which we'll write and share work with one another. We may also hold virtual meetings where we'll share work and/or talk about strategies for drafting and revising creative works.
Cycling is a great way to explore the beautiful area around Williams while meeting other Ephs! Our club team welcomes all students who are interested in the sport of cycling, no matter your skill level. We facilitate training opportunities and provide free gear, including a road bike and helmet. We typically ride three days a week and provide the opportunity to race against other schools in the spring. Cycling is the perfect social distancing sport and we can't wait to welcome new members!
Welcome to ADT! We are a student-led club that enjoys dancing, specifically to pop music from Asia! Previously, we have mainly learned and performed K-Pop dances, but we are open to all kinds of songs throughout the area. It’s important to note that we are a non-audition based dance group on campus, so if you have no previous dancing experiences, this is the group for you!

The Williams Sustainable Growers (aka the Garden Club) aims to educate the Williams community about the value of sustainable agriculture in theory and practice by growing food in organic campus gardens. We will strive to promote sustainability by increasing the percentage of our food that is local and seasonal at Williams and by helping people understand that their dietary choices can be vital to combating environmental problems such as climate change, pollution, and top soil erosion.
Nestled into the glorious Purple Valley, the WRFC is an organization, 62 years of age, dedicated to teaching young players the spirit of rugby. Aiming to develop not only rugby skills, but also other talents like leadership, commitment to community, and superb communication, we spend 3-5 days a week practicing with Saturday matches, competing year-round. Most of all, we’re a group dedicated to fun. Come out with a smile, stick around awhile, you might just like it!

One of the oldest student organizations on the Williams College campus, the Debating Union competes in American and British parliamentary debate. No debate experience? No problem! The Williams YDSA is a new organization for Williams students to amplify activism on and off campus. We aim to help students fight for representation, racial justice, and economic equality. Join the Williams Women’s Rugby team, an inclusive and fun club sport on campus open to anyone. Typically, we have practices and games in Fall and Spring, but we also host social events for team bonding year-round. We strive to provide a safe athletic and social space for many students on campus. While we are still planning out how Fall 2020 will look, we are always open to new members!
Williams Photography Club (WPC) organizes for-hire student photographers and photography booths for Williams College events. WPC offers instructional photography sessions; coordinates photographer trainings; provides Williams offices with photos for promotional materials; and anticipates starting a photography-based publication during this semester. WPC welcomes photographers of all backgrounds and skill levels.

Cap & Bells is a student theatre club that provides student directors, designers, actors, playwrights and stage managers with the opportunity to produce their own plays for the Williams campus and the Berkshire community. Works performed run the gamut from Shakespeare, Stoppard, and Sondheim (Williams class of ’50!) to original student-written work.
Every Cap & Bells show is produced, directed, designed, performed, and run exclusively by Williams students.
We are a club that deals with everything chess related! In a typical year, this means meeting once a week to play chess: this year these meetings will probably be virtual. If you are somewhat interested in playing chess, learning how to play chess, or watching other people play chess, sign up to be added to the chess listserv! Everyone is welcome, and no background in chess is expected or required!
We're a spoken word group on campus dedicated to giving students a space to write, share, and workshop their writing in a safe and inclusive environment. We have several performances each year, and have brought poets like Olivia Gatwood, Rudy Francisco, and Gabriel Ramirez to perform on campus. We want students to feel seen and heard, and we welcome all forms of writing! On top of poems, we have had students share their short stories and songs. Anyone is welcome to join, no experience necessary!
The Williams Record is the student newspaper that serves the campus and broader community by reporting on events relevant to Williams and the Berkshires and offering a platform to members to share their perspectives. The paper publishes all year, covering breaking news as well. SoCA (Students of Caribbean Ancestry) aims to be active in organizing activities that foster interaction among Caribbean students and community members in order to foster interest in Caribbean culture. SoCA will be a forum to interact with, share, and learn about Caribbean cultures. By establishing connections with members of the Williams community and those of neighboring communities, we hope to engage in identifying, exploring and promoting the progress of the Caribbean Region.
Are you interested in horseback riding? Join Williams's Equestrian Team! We welcome absolutely anyone and everyone to join---you do not need any horseback riding experience (we'll teach you everything you need to know). We ride at Bonnie Lea Farm, which is just a mile down Route 7 (only a 15 min walk from Mission Park!). Experienced riders compete with other regional schools like Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, and UMass Amherst under the IHSA format and we ride in the hunter/jumper format.

Insight is a student-run investment publication and financial think-tank at Williams. Our investment theses are made compelling by the synthesis of our technical expertise and liberal-arts style of analysis. AASiA serves as the coalition for API groups, and acts to foster Asian American community and political action on the Williams campus. Through social events, discussion-based activities, and political activism, AASiA strives to provide a forum for community-building, cross-cultural exchange and political organizing.
The Williams Film Club is all about watching and making movies. We arrange film screenings — this year, with remote and socially distant options. We support student filmmakers by providing resources, facilitating collaboration and discussion, and organizing student productions. And finally, we offer practical workshops and invite speakers to share their experiences in the industry. Ephs at the Clark is a club that helps to promote and interact with the resources, staff, and collections of the Clark Art Institute. We aim to create a stronger bond between the Clark and the students of Williams College while helping members of the club to gain a more intimate knowledge of museum operations. We put on events such as gallery openings, scavenger hunts at the museum, career day with staff members at the Clark, and trivia. We hope you join us!
The mission of the Williams College Jewish Association (WCJA, pronounced [wick-djuh]) is to provide a space modeling the richness and diversity of Judaism and Jewishness, to foster a community of plurality and acceptance and to provide opportunities for Jewish involvement in the community.
Sankofa, Williams’ only step team, was founded by five women of color in 1996 from the Class of 2000. Stepping is a percussive dance form created by black fraternities in the mid 1900s. Sankofa translates to “reach back and get it” from Akan. Sankofa used this concept to reach back in order to step forward, reflecting on the organization’s mentality. Our original material incorporates popular song, drums, hip-hop, break dance, spoken word, poetry, and sheer creative ingenuity.
The Women's Water Polo team is a group of non-male identifying folks who practice for and compete in club water polo tournaments! We focus on inclusion and developing healthy and inclusive group dynamics! No matter your experience with water or swimming we would love to have you! Typically we have 3 practices a week during the spring semester and will do team bonding social events through the fall and winter! If you have any interest please let us know because we would love to meet you!!
Mock Trial is a team that competes against other colleges in the Northeast in a criminal or civil court case simulation. Each year, college Mock Trial teams across the country are assigned an interesting fictional case that they must learn to argue on both sides. Club members will be assigned to the role of a lawyer or witness on either or both sides of the case. This is a great and fun opportunity for anyone interested in practicing law in the future (though plenty of our members plan on other post-grad pursuits), or anyone who wants to improve their public speaking skills. No experience is necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know!
P3 (the Positive Pathways Partnership) brings Williams students into the Berkshire County House of Correction (BCHoC) once a week to tutor inmates in subjects ranging from basic math and reading skills to high level chemistry and essay writing. This semester, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, tutoring will happen over zoom and not in the facility.
We provide students who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or students who are interested in learning more about the church, with access to resources they need to attend virtual or in person meetings (adhering to social distancing guidelines), receive gospel-related curriculum (seminary, institute, etc.), and share messages promote an environment of spiritual growth and fulfillment.
The Chaplains' Office provides support for all Williams students, regardless of faith or no faith at all. The Chaplains are available to meet with students and provide support for the Religious and Spiritual Life Groups.
The Black STEM Student Association (BSTEM) aims to create a safe and supportive space in which Black and other underrepresented students in the sciences are encouraged to build community with one another and continue their studies in the STEM fields while freely and directly speaking of their experiences. We support Black and other underrepresented students taking courses and/or majoring in fields including: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physics, the Pre-Medical and Health Tracks, Psychology, and Statistics.
Williams Empower Through Health seeks to pioneer the fight against the global mental health crisis by becoming the first team to provide psychiatric care to Busoga, Uganda. We partner with our Ugandan team to create systemic change for those suffering from mental disorders; we will also organize educational events to inform the public of global health inequity. Ultimately, we work to not only dispel misconceptions surrounding mental illness, but to solidify mental healthcare as a human right.
Sexual Joy and Wellbeing offers a space at Williams to talk about sex, sexuality, sensuality, bodies, feelings, and so much more! We work to make talking about sex and sex-related topics feel casual and non-judgmental (as it should be!) and offer a safe place to learn and teach each other new things. SJW absolutely always makes space for all students, including BIPOC, queer, trans/GNC, disabled, asexual, and kinky folx.
We are a space for religious discussion and support of those questioning their beliefs. We aim to use secular thought as a way of finding common ground between religions and deriving meaning from religious texts.
Off the Hook is a new crochet club at Williams where the goal is to destress and learn a fun new skill. We will meet every week and teach crochet basics as well as work on projects together. Absolutely no experience required, beginners welcome! This club will operate in two sections based on experience, with one project for beginners and one project for intermediate crocheters. You are free to skip projects according to your time and inclination—just sign up to the email list to be notified whenever we start a new project! We will do our best to provide basic supplies where needed to increase accessibility. However, we do ask that if we provide supplies that you make a commitment to come to the club meetings. Our first session will be an info session; you do not need to have any supplies or any experience to show up.
We seek to supplement student learning with technical development and experiential learning, which allows students to explore a career in finance in a safe, risk-free atmosphere. We hope to foster an inclusive and diverse community that provides students with the opportunity to develop and practice important skills through workshops, alumni/upperclassmen mentorship and investing (by starting up a small fund run by students who complete the training).
WFC aims to explore the interdisciplinary nature of fintech and related fields including finance, technology, economics, mathematics, psychology etc. WFC’s main activities will include researching into the latest trends and developments in the field of fintech (including but not limited to cryptocurrency, insurtech, robo-advising, blockchain technology). We aim to write research papers, articles, and blogs on these topics and discuss potential ideas about new advances in these fields.
Margins aims to reshape what finance at Williams looks like for students of all identities. The barriers to entry into the world of finance are often high, and the necessary resources are inaccessible to many students. The mystery and exclusivity around the field can be intimidating to those with little or no experience and to those who have been historically underrepresented. We hope to break down those barriers and open the door to finance, together as a diverse, driven community of students.
The Williams College PC Gaming Club is a community of students interested in discussing, playing, and watching PC video games. Some games our community plays include League of Legends, Valorant, Apex Legends, and Minecraft, among many others. We have weekly meetings that will provide a time for games to be played and a space for beginners to learn from others. In addition, the club hosts periodic tournaments and viewing parties throughout the year.
DataLab aims to introduce data science to Williams students and make it accessible for everyone on campus. It will be a space for members to collaborate on data science projects and help local and national organizations with data science needs. We hope DataLab will allow students to access data science resources online that may otherwise be out of reach, be it for financial reasons or anything else.
We plan on hosting a series of talks by speakers and/or performers outside of the Williams community addressing the history, unpacking the comfort and freedom in burlesque, and sharing their personal experience in what it means to be a performer of burlesque in addition to workshops we will hold. We want to hold these talks throughout the year (they could be virtual or in person, once restrictions are lifted) and hope to do a show during Spring semester.
A student run initiative and organization that provides support for businesses, organizations, nonprofits, and other communities undergoing hardship (including healthcare providers, first responders, nursing care teams, essential workers, and others in need) in the Berkshire County area as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Relay for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life club will plan small fundraising events throughout the year and organize a large fundraiser in the spring! All of the money raised at these events will be donated to fund cancer research. Each event is tailored to meet its community, so this club offers the opportunity to be creative and engaged within Williamstown!
The Supernatural Investigation Club, or SIC, will dive into all things occult. From scary movie watch parties, to investigating local legends, to reviewing our favorite horror novels, this club will serve as a hub for student interest in everything paranormal. During special ghost hunts we'll investigate local stories of ghosts and cryptids and come up with our own conclusions of the validity of these claims.
The Williams Undergraduate Research Journal (WURJ) is a composite journal that publishes undergraduate research semesterly in the sciences, mathematics, and humanities. The club consists of an editorial and executive board--both student run. In addition, WURJ offers a space for researching Ephs to collaborate, share projects, and eat snacks in monthly meetings/conferences. Joining WURJ is a great way to meet fellow researchers, travel to research conferences, and gain journal editing experience.
The Williams Translation Project (WTP) is a group of 70+ Williams community members who volunteer their time translating legal documents for local immigrant centers in 9 different languages. In doing so, we help countless immigrants afford to become Americans. If you are fluent in a second language and have two hours of every month free, consider joining our email list! As a rock-band inspired devising company, Live Animals Onstage (LAO) aspires to capture this feeling by producing our member’s wildest ideas - from last year’s The Bachelor Live! to an after-hours performance of Hamlet - with an emphasis on fun & experimentation. Come join one of our weekly jam sessions to hang out & join the zoo!
Williams Studio Company is a group for ballet dancers at Williams to share their passion for dance with other students. We'll be holding ballet and conditioning classes, as well as rehearsals every week, culminating in a performance for those interested. We'll be working closely with our advisor, Professor Janine Parker, who offers several great ballet courses for academic credit! We also plan to take trips to see dance performances and exhibits once the risks of Covid-19 have been mitigated.
The Needle is a satire magazine that is the only comedic space on campus specifically for non-male identifying students. We are an online publication and we write satirical articles, quizzes, and headlines relating to current events, life at Williams, and life in general! We're open to writers of any background, but we strive to create a space for students who's gender identity, racial identity, sexual orientation etc., are underrepresented in other comedic spaces on campus.
