The MSU seeks to help campus Muslims with their spiritual needs and promote an open community where both Muslims and non-Muslims can gather to engage with Islam. The MSU hopes to serve its members by providing opportunities for intellectual exploration, Islamic learning, spiritual growth, and social programming. Lastly, the MSU strives to promote understanding between Muslims and other faith groups at Williams College in order to create a more educated and aware student body. We will hold the live talk starting at 9pm.
The ISA aims to represent international students and provide a safe space for our multicultural community. We advocate for the needs of international students, facilitate cross-cultural collaboration, and organize student activities to create a strong support system.
Some of our regular activities include coffee hours, talent shows, movie/game nights, and cooking sessions; these will be modified to be socially distant and accommodate our off-campus members. We can’t wait to meet you this Fall!
UnICS seeks to create a safe, reliable, and productive environment within the Williams CS department for all current and prospective majors, but especially for underrepresented identities. We recognize that everyone’s experiences are unique, so for this reason, UnICS provides a comfortable environment for students to freely discuss their concerns about the department with each other as well as encourage discussion and action to solve them.
Williams BSU is a group where Black African Ancestry can find emotional, academic, and social support. This means: providing a space which students can articulate concerns regarding the curriculum, general administration of the college; providing funds and a space for cultural and social events important to Black students; providing a support network that will enable Black students to achieve in the classroom in spite of financial and emotional obstacles that they may have.
OurSTEM+ was founded to promote sexual, gender, and racial minority representation within the STEM+ fields, which includes subjects like Economics and Psychology. OurSTEM+ works towards this goal by hosting events (like movie nights, faculty dinners, and informational seminars) that provide forums for those in the STEM+ fields to come together and build a network of support within Williams College for minority students in STEM.
CASO organizes various social gatherings that boost the local Chinese community at Williams and build a deeper appreciation of our culture on the Williams campus. We engage with Asian American issues and work with other MinCo groups to build cross-cultural dialogue. We also conduct a Big Sib and Fam program that pairs first-years with upperclassmen to build a stronger community within the organization. Everyone is welcome to join and participate in our events regardless of their background!
The Williams College Queer Student Union (QSU) is an organization meant to work towards the advocacy, advancement, and support for college's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and otherwise Queer-identifying students. We strive towards strengthening community at Williams for LGBTQ+ students in various ways, including, but not limited to: hosting events, such as regular discussion meetings and parties, collaborating with other groups on campus, and engaging with the wider Williams community.
We at the South Asian Student Association (SASA) are committed to supporting & fostering the different South Asian cultures and identities on campus. We aim to continue cultivating a strong and welcoming community — regardless of one's ethnicity. We seek to increase awareness & create a strong South Asian presence on campus, despite our small numbers!
We create a safe and affirming atmosphere for transgender, non binary, and gender non-conforming students at Williams. We also facilitate community building and peer support networks by hosting events that center and celebrate our presence at Williams. Basically, we all just like to hang out in Hardy (or Google Meet) and have a good time together :)
SoCA (Students of Caribbean Ancestry) aims to be active in organizing activities that foster interaction among Caribbean students and community members in order to foster interest in Caribbean culture. SoCA will be a forum to interact with, share, and learn about Caribbean cultures. By establishing connections with members of the Williams community and those of neighboring communities, we hope to engage in identifying, exploring and promoting the progress of the Caribbean Region.
The mission of The Society of the Griffins is to foster a brotherhood for men of color while creating equitable pathways to success at Williams College. On our journey to individual and collective achievement, we hold unity, fidelity and excellence above all. We aim to connect with communities within Williams and the Berkshires, more broadly, as exemplary men for others.
The Hindu Student Association aims to provide students with opportunities to practice and learn about Hinduism.
AASiA serves as the coalition for API groups, and acts to foster Asian American community and political action on the Williams campus. Through social events, discussion-based activities, and political activism, AASiA strives to provide a forum for community-building, cross-cultural exchange and political organizing.
BSTEM aims to create a safe and supportive space in which Black and other underrepresented students are encouraged to continue their studies in STEM fields, and can freely speak of their experiences in these fields. This support system for underserved groups in STEM is essential in helping these students combat the effects of the discrimination that they may experience while navigating STEM courses.
Margins aims to reshape what finance at Williams looks like for students of all identities. The barriers to entry into the world of finance are often high, and the necessary resources are inaccessible to many students. The mystery and exclusivity around the field can be intimidating to those with little or no experience and to those who have been historically underrepresented. We hope to break down those barriers and open the door to finance, together as a diverse, driven community of students.
VISTA exists to create an environment that is both comfortable and conducive to learning about the Latinx diaspora at Williams and for those that show genuine interest in Latinx culture. With this in mind, VISTA is a support group that develops a sense of outreach and unity amongst its members and the larger Williams College community. Along with regular meetings and social events in the Hardy House living room, VISTA organizes Latinx Heritage Month with the help of the Davis Center.
FemCo focuses on providing a safe space for folx with marginalized genders/identities to foster community and facilitate activism. This involves hosting activities, speakers, and workshops that are created with the intention to empower individuals and destabilize current structures of power.
