We recently acquired ten LEGO SPIKE kits using the META grant we received earlier this year. These kits will be introduced to classes after our mid-term break.
Additionally, thanks to the ICT grant from the Department of Education, we’ve purchased eight new Chromebooks and six Beebots.
In November, staff will also receive training on using VR headsets in the classroom.
Charlie Clarke and Amélie Tyndall designed the new school jersey. A total of €650 was raised through the "Predict the Score" competition, with proceeds going towards the purchase of this new set of jerseys. Nobody predicted the correct score. Well done to Scott Halleran (4th) who won the seller's prize of €20.
A big thank you to Paddy and Michelle Hagan from Blackwell Energy for sponsoring the shorts and socks for the boys and girls playing in Croke Park!
We’ve recently added a new climbing wall to our playground, funded by the money raised from our non-uniform days last year.
Thank you for your continued support of our fundraising efforts at the school!
We’re excited to announce that our application for a school therapy dog has been approved! The dog will be arriving in the coming weeks and will undergo a training programme. This therapy dog will be a valuable addition to our school, enhancing wellbeing, mental health, and morale for both students and staff, while also helping to address anxiety and absenteeism.
All the books from the rental scheme have been scanned and barcoded, allowing us to track all titles currently on loan to the children. The school library is almost ready to open, with everything categorised for each class to explore and enjoy. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Kellett, Lorna Clarke and the Parents' Association for the countless hours of work they dedicated to this project. The library will open offically after the mid term break.
As part of our School Self Evaluation, we are focusing on maths again this year. To enhance the children's maths experience, we are introducing initiatives such as maths talk during lessons, connecting maths to real-life situations with projects like Maths Eyes, and continuing to use the counting stick for ten minutes each morning in every class.
All teachers attended a Primary Maths Curriculum training day at the school on Wednesday, October 2nd. This training provided valuable insights into effective teaching strategies and resources.
Students from last school year will continue on the council, and we welcome the new members from third class. This initiative ensures that all pupils have a voice in our school!
A big thank you to the Digital Learning Committee for ensuring the safe storage of our Chrombooks and iPads. It’s a challenging task, and these students have shown great patience and commitment.
