Clocking In
Click here for help on how to clock in and clock out using Quickbooks Time. You do not have to clock out for your breaks - we pay for them!
Please be mindful of staying under 40 hours each week. Overtime must be approved by a director to be paid your rate at 1.5 times over 80 hours.
Storage
Personal Belongings: Please keep your personal belongings in a locked storage room away from children at all times while at the school. See section 2 on field trips for what to bring with you and how while venturing into the beyond.
Bathrooms: There are 2 staff bathrooms. Paper towels, toilet paper, etc. are located in the laundry room. If you use the end of a roll, please either replace it or let someone know to do so asap.
Cleaning Supplies & Tools: Cleaning supplies and adult tools are located in the laundry room and must be in locked cabinets from children. If there is a mess that you made or observe needs cleaning, please help by cleaning it up. See section 4 for more details on cleaning procedures.
Breaks
All hourly employees who work more than 5 consecutive hours will have at least a 30-minute lunch break. All employees are required to clock out for any time taken over a 30 minute break.
Employees will also be permitted a 10-minute rest break for every four hours of work which is paid and can be taken in or out of the classroom. Employees must advocate for this break if a floater doesn't come by to offer one.
Let your directors know at the start of the day if you need to take a call or request your break at a specific time so we can help plan coverage for your break accordingly.
Directors recommendations for how to spend your lunch breaks:
Go outside! Spending time outdoors can help clear your mind and come back ready for the end of the day.
Practice self care. What is it that you do for self-care? Can you fit in 5 minutes of breath-work, journaling, or yoga?
Treat yourself to a delicious meal or treat. Bluebird Market has a great environment for relaxing and grabbing a bite to eat, with options for everyone!
Socialize with co-workers who are also on their break in our employee break room. Please be mindful of those who would like the time to themselves.
Use of Electronics
Phones: In order to maintain a safe and professional workplace, cell phone use for personal phone calls, answering personal email, texting, taking photographs or surfing the web is not permitted. If you must use your phone, try to do it when you’re on your break or ask an administrator to step in the classroom for you. There may be times when either a cell phone or walkie-talkie will be required for safety when off-site during walks or trips outside of the premises. These instances will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.*
iPads: Each classroom will be provided with an iPad to use for the purpose of gathering documentation of children's learning and development.
Computers: There will be a Chromebook available in each classroom for the use of communication with families or other work related tasks.*
