The book you chose is showing new perspectives, and new worlds you haven't experienced. This may mean a fantasy or sci-fi or dystopia novel. But this could also mean there is a character who has a far different personality from you. Or they may be experiencing moments you never have. Or they may have cultural identities that you may not know a whole lot about!
The book you chose is showing some similarities to your own life in terms of the character's personality, or perhaps their experiences, or their cultural identities.
The book you chose is a WINDOW, meaning you have already identified this is a new perspective in a character or book. You are able to put yourself in the character's shoes, and understand their emotions, actions, and motivations better because you understand their personality, culture, history, relationships etc.
You may not agree/like what the character is doing, but due to empathy, and "stepping inside" the character's mind so to speak, you understand why a character acts the way they do.
Tips: This is not a mandatory note catcher, but being that you will need to write a paper in 8th grade to answer the prompt of Windows, Mirrors, Sliding Glass Doors, this note catcher cuts the work in half!! Use it while you read to mark down any handy quotes or page numbers to prove your claim.
I would always recommend sticky notes in books are always incredibly helpful too! Don't forget to mark down important pages to come back to later. Click on the link below and MAKE A NEW COPY of it!
