Best Practices:
Constant messaging!
Student Presentations:
Open with a slide to remind & prompt expectated behavior in each location
Reminders for staff & Families:
Weekly bulletin includes specific matrix behaviors as teaching targets
School-wide Recognition Systems:
Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Trimester, & Annual Awards to students are aligned to matrix behaviors
Celebrate as a community when targets are met!
Blank Matrix Challenge:
Create a blank version of your matrix with the list of locations
Challenge students & staff to fill it in!
When students earn ODRS: Lean on your flowchart and use your bank of logical consequences
Avoid taking away rewards or not allowing students to participate in daily or weekly raffles/exchanges when they have earned an ODR.
We want appropriate behavior to be more rewarding than inappropriate behavior.
Exception: Requiring zero ODRs for trimester and annual rewards is very reasonable because those rewards acknowledge long-term behavior patterns.
Build A Better Matrix:
Embed SEL core competencies
Incorporate reminders for staff to maximize successful outcomes
TIPS Meeting Agenda:
Team Initiated Problem Solving
Meeting minute templates. Convert to a Google Doc so everyone can track their commitments and share with staff. Effective meetings start with data at the very start.
