What's Happening in NMC1?

8/1-8/10 - Week 1

It's the first week of school! I told the Media Monsters we had to take a "1st day of school picture. They humored me. We were missing a couple of kids and we'll have to take another one. We didn't get together until Wednesday's advisor where we played Body Rock Paper Scissors or as the locals call is "Jun Ken Po" and tried to learn everyone's name.

7/29/17 - Angelhack - Honolulu Hackathon

Got to check out what goes on at a Hackathon. Teams of 5 or less people have 36 hours to create their competition entry. Not everyone has coding experience. Some have marketing experience or other field experiences. People compete to meet new people and practice their craft.

7/20/17 - Train the Teacher Coding Camp!

I spent two weeks this summer being a student at Jr DevLeague 1st Train the Teacher Cohort. We learned the basics of HTML, CSS and Java Script coding. It was an awesome experience. I am hoping to start a Coding Club this year. For those interested in exploring this area I highly recommend their summer or intersessions. We have hosted a few at our school and the kids gave us a lot of positive feedback.
