Course Descriptions

NOTE: Required for ALL CLASSES. PARENT CONSENT of:

  • Student Media Release Form
  • Internet Permission (TRUF)
  • Use of School Gmail

Required Materials for All Classes:

  • Pencil (and Eraser) and Lined Paper
  • Audio Earphones to plug into computer.
  • Additional Supplies as requested per class.

Intro to Entrepreneurship aka "WMS Kid Co" (6th Grade)

This course is designed to give students exposure to three aspects of entrepreneurship.

Starting A Business

In small groups, students will experience the Entrepreneurial Cycle (Designing, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and Financing) as they form a company.

Running A School Store

As a class, students will experience select merchandise, maintaining, inventory and conduct marketing for the school store. Students will also gain experience in handling currency.

Stock Market Simulation

Students will form investment groups that will select stocks to buy and sell. Students will track performance and justify decisions with the goal to earn the most profit.

Video Production - Introduction (7th and 8th Grade):

  • Students will be introduced to skills of filming using basic shot composition, writing news stores and editing raw footage into a variety of video projects.
  • Students will gain experience working in a cooperative learning environment.

Fun Thriller Video

Animation (8th Grade):

  • This course is designed to introduce students to fundamental of creating animations.
  • Students will also explore the science behind moving pictures and study important events and people who helped to develop this field.
  • Students are expected to participate in variety of projects, including pitching, story development, story writing and computer animation and video editing.

Graphics (7th Grade):

  • Student will experiment with a variety of media which communicates messages for various purposes.
  • Students will have opportunities to examine the nature and impact of various media on their lives.
  • Students will also explore using technology as a problem solving tool.
