Introduction to the challenge of SR publication; aims and approach of workshop (Paul Whaley)
The quality of systematic reviews being published in medicine, potential flags for environmental health (Matt Page)
We are here to exchange knowledge about good practices in scientific publication, to develop an action-plan and road-map toward assuring the quality of systematic reviews published in environmental health and toxicology journals.
The meeting is being held under the Chatham House Rule: "information disclosed during a meeting may be reported by those present, but the source of that information may not be explicitly or implicitly identified."
At all times, we would ask participants to work towards generating a constructive atmosphere of encouragement and mutual appreciation. We have different conceptions of the issues, backgrounds, and ideas about appropriate responses. Please respect each others' perspectives as we seek consensus.
A summary of the workshop processes, discussion and preliminary report of findings. This will be published in ALTEX, as a condition of workshop sponsorship by t4.
Defining an agenda for how journal editors can contribute to assuring the quality of systematic reviews in the environmental health sciences.
A set of short-term, readily-achievable interventions which we can all agree to implement. Could be published as a co-authored editorial, simultaneously in each participating journal?
Can we meet regularly (conference calls) to engage more people into our group, report back on progress, and support each other in addressing implementation challenges?
