For the Technology Design Portfolio – TDT1 course, Task 2 requires the student to create a multimedia product (video) according to specifications. The video was created using Camtasia®, as it is provides robust multimedia editing platform and is easy to use. The video will be used on the student’s portfolio website located at https://tinyurl.com/ybmc7ptl.
The purpose of the video is to demonstrate how to document and review patient information in an EMR system. The video will support an instructional unit titled “Introduction to Electronic Medical Records Systems”, with the following learning objectives: a) Define Electronic Medical Records system, b) Identify the benefits of an EMR system, c) Recall basic workflow tasks performed in an EMR system. The video target audience is first year medical and nursing students of a medical or nursing school, male and female, age 18 to 40 years, with high school diploma or GED, and completion of PC basic skills course.
The task requires the student to detail the multimedia product design process followed. A process outline is provided below:
a) Prepare the environment/screen area to be recorded on your computer, to include attaching a microphone for narration.
b) Using screencasting and video editing software, such as Camtasia®, choose a screen area to record.
c) Click the Record button to begin recording. Then, perform the task and narrate as appropriate. When finished, stop the recording.
d) Use editing tools as appropriate.
e) Save file.

The task requires the student to detail and discuss the conceptual framework used. The following diagram is provided. This framework allowed the student to establish and clarify the flow of the video, as well as determine the appropriate learning scenario to present.
