Student organizations must abide by the following regulations at all events where alcohol is available. Student organizations are responsible for managing their events in a manner consistent with this policy and applicable laws.
All events where alcohol is available must first be approved by the Office of Student Affairs. Please submit an Event Request on The Link to begin the approval process.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages must be limited to persons of legal drinking age.
Alcoholic beverages may not be stored On-Campus. Exceptions may be made for events held On-Campus for storage of alcohol during the event by Aramark.
The sponsoring organization(s) shall act responsibly in determining the amount of alcohol to be provided.
The sponsoring organization(s) shall ensure non-alcoholic beverages and food is provided. Non-alcoholic beverages and food must remain in plain view, be easily accessible, and available in sufficient quantities. Alcoholic beverages can be served only as long as non-alcoholic beverages are available.
The sponsoring organization(s) shall take appropriate measures to monitor the consumption of alcohol and reduce the risk of inappropriate behavior including, but not limited to, harassment, threatening behavior, destruction of property, failure to comply with directions of university officials, possessing an open container outside of the event area, consuming a prohibited form of alcohol, drinking games, and underage consumption.
The sponsoring organization(s) will take appropriate measures to prevent the abuse of alcohol at the event.
The promotion of the event shall not be done in a manner that encourages excessive consumption of alcohol. Advertising should be limited to a single mention that alcohol is available, i.e. “keg provided” or “cash bar.”
If concerned for an intoxicated member or guest, the sponsoring organization is expected to seek assistance immediately.
If an event is hosted on a Sunday, alcohol may not be sold, served, or consumed before 10:00am.
Student organizations whose events and/or member actions involving alcohol and/or other drugs result in behavior that creates a risk of danger to the health and safety of themselves or others are subject to relevant conduct policies.
Student organizations planning to host events where alcohol is available are encouraged (but not required) to attend the following training hosted by the University’s Office of Student Engagement.

Physiology of alcohol
Understanding liability
The role of effective bystander behavior
Student organizations must abide by the following regulations when hosting an event on campus where alcohol will be present.
Alcohol may not be provided, consumed, or possessed by anyone in Worrell Professional Center during the academic year during regular daytime business hours (8:30am - 5:00pm).
At other times, alcohol consumption is limited to beer, unfortified wine, and other malt beverages. Permitted beverages must contain 16% or less alcohol by volume (ABV). Distilled alcoholic beverages and other beverages with an ABV greater than 16% may not be consumed except at events held at a licensed establishment or where alcohol is served by a licensed third-party vendor.
Alcoholic beverages served on campus must be provided by Aramark.
Alcoholic beverages at functions held on campus or funded by the School of Law will be available only in limited circumstances, for events that have a purpose clearly related to the law school program.
Student organizations must abide by the following regulations when hosting an event off-campus where alcohol is available.
Alcohol will only be allowed at Off-Campus events that are hosted on a licensed premises and where drinks are served by a licensee of the state ABC board.
Drink purchases may not be included with ticket sales.
The licensee of the state ABC board is responsible for verifying identification of attendees and monitoring the distribution and consumption of any and all alcoholic beverages available at the function.
