Maria Edgeworth is the most important early nineteenth-century novelist you've never heard of. She was admired by and influenced Jane Austen, and she and her father wrote widely influential texts on children's pedagogy. Her fame was such that she was connected to many important people in England and Ireland throughout her long life and corresponded with politicians, scientists, and thinkers. This talk will describe the challenges that the archive of her letters has presented to traditional publishing and editing and the solutions that the digital environment offers that will enable us to show Edgeworth's networks and importance.
