WEDNESADAY RECAP
In the beginning of our theme verse, Paul says he is UNASHAMED of the gospel. The "Good Samaritan" delivered the "Good News" to the beaten and abandoned Jew. Jews and Samaritans did not associate. The good man was unashamed of the cultural divide and did what he knew was right. He LOOKED at the hurting man, he WENT to him, and he DID something to help. Jesus shares that this man was truly a neighbor. Sharing the gospel goes beyond the words we speak, it is shaered in our actions as well.
Peter was a close friend and follower of Jesus. Jesus explained how things would go at the end of his earthly life, but the disciples did not understand. Jesus even told Peter he would deny Jesus and Peter argued against it. We know that Peter did deny knowing and being with Jesus. He let fear and shame replace courage and faith. However Peter reconciled with Jesus, promised to FEED and CARE for his sheep. Peter went on to be a leader of the early church. 1 Peter 3:13-14 “Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.””
Stephen is known as the first Christian martyr. Before laying his life down for Christ's sake, he gave those around him an exhortation of the GOOD NEWS from beginning to Jesus' saving act. Stephen was noted for his WISDOM and the power of the Spirit. We must take time to know the story we are proclaiming. Study God's word, share it with others, and put it into action! On this evening we also heard from Steve Liversedge, lifelong missionary, about how people (even young people) are persecuted in other areas of the world. One big take away was that our testimony is even stringer when we embrace the persecution we endure.
Ruth Gouge introduced our monthly missions nights and shared stories from her life, her families life, and the life of her friends to show us how ordinary people can say yes to God and do extraordinary things in His name and for His kingdom.
On October 1st we recapped what we had heard over the past 4 weeks and each student was left with a challenge to take onee small step in sharing the gospel! Ask your student what they chose to do and how you can help them!
5 Minture crash course on how to share the Gospel
We discussed how sharing the gospel happend in steps. Step 1 is to be fueled up. Step 2 is to build a relationship. Step 3 is to share God's story of redemption. The acronym in the picture is a quick way to remember to redemption story and share it with others. Check out the video linked above for more details!
Thad shared with us a story about his families time on missions. We were challenged to see God's faithfulness even in challenging and uncertain circumstances.
We heard from Jean and Jeremiah as they shared what they learned reading Pilgrim's Progress. We will surely encounter many of the "friends" that Christian did. How can we hold fast to the course that leads to the celestial city? Cling to truth and hope that come from thr Lord.
God, yes, God. Creator of the universe. Not a creator that created and walked away, but one who desires relationship with His creation. God created the world like a composer composes a song. With a purpose and with beauty as the goal. Our job is to learn to play the notes so that we can join our creator in harmony.
