Principal's Update

October 2022

Dear Harbor Lights Families,

I wanted to briefly let you know that my last day at Harbor Lights will be Friday, October 14th. Mr. Dave Stefanich, the current Principal at Great Lakes Elementary will starting at Harbor Lights as building Principal on Monday, October 17th. He is a devoted educator, Harbor Lights parent, and tireless advocate for students and families in West Ottawa. As I have shared previously, our staff is as strong as ever, with a cross section of new and experienced teachers all equally dedicated to the achievement and growth of your children. A central focus of our work at Harbor Lights has always been and will continue to be maintaining high-quality academic programming as well as exploring new opportunities to meet the needs of all students. This central mission will remain a constant as Mr. Stefanich steps into his new role.

Everything we do in West Ottawa is focused on helping students become college, career, and life ready. I have been lucky over the course of many years in West Ottawa to be a part of this effort and I am confident that this mindset of service to our school community will continue. It has been a privilege to serve your student through their middle school years! Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Estimadas familias de Harbor Lights,

Quería informarles brevemente que mi último día en Harbor Lights será el viernes 14 de octubre. Sr. Dave Stefanich, el director actual de la escuela primaria Great Lakes, comenzará en Harbor Lights como director del edificio el lunes 17 de octubre. Es un educador dedicado, padre de Harbor Lights y defensor incansable de los estudiantes y las familias en West Ottawa. Como he compartido anteriormente, nuestro personal es tan fuerte como siempre, con una muestra representativa de maestros nuevos y experimentados, todos igualmente dedicados al logro y crecimiento de sus hijos. Un enfoque central de nuestro trabajo en Harbor Lights siempre ha sido y seguirá siendo mantener una programación académica de alta calidad, así como explorar nuevas oportunidades para satisfacer las necesidades de todos los estudiantes. Esta misión central seguirá siendo una constante a medida que el Sr. Stefanich asuma su nuevo cargo.

Todo lo que hacemos en West Ottawa se centra en ayudar a los estudiantes a prepararse para la universidad, la carrera y la vida. He tenido la suerte en el transcurso de muchos años en West Ottawa de ser parte de este esfuerzo y confío en que esta mentalidad de servicio a nuestra comunidad escolar continuará. ¡Ha sido un privilegio servir a su estudiante durante sus años de escuela intermedia! ¡Muchas gracias por la oportunidad!
