Short video of workshop with Amanda Bailey

Weston Music FB Live Performance Series 1: Kate Sloat, Harp

Workshop: "Evolution of the Harp"

In this FB Live Workshop, Kate will take audience members through the development of the harp and play some repertoire examples from a variety of musical eras and genres. Join the FB Live Q&A during and after the performance about Kate's career in music - she will answer any questions that you may have! We strongly encourage students to ask questions!

Kathryn Sloat, “whose harp playing evoked the angels (Brooklyn Discovery),” is known for her work in opera and contemporary chamber music. She is a member of harp duo Lilac 94 with whom she recently won third prize in the International Harp Contest in Italy. Kathryn has played in pit orchestras for Off-Broadway and regional theater productions including Once Upon a Mattress, The Fantasticks, A Light in the Piazza, and The Beast in the Jungle. Kathryn teaches harp lessons at the Diller-Quaile School of Music and the Dwight School, and works as a freelance performer in New York City.
