Today I worked on adding different tones to the shadows and thinning out the part on her face. I began this process by mixing blues and oranges to match her skin tone and adding these tones to the other shadows as well.
I think I am going to add the paint chips going from her head to break up the background
Glued down the paintchips that are an extension of her veil/headpiece.
I added more wire mesh and decided to paint over the paint chips to bring the whole dress together. I also began creating a design on the bottom part of the dress to give it more depth.
I am beginning to play around with shadows as it will add more depth to the empty spaces. I made the first layer too dark so I am going to work to add more depth as contrast to these areas.
May-June 2019
Today I added modeling paste to white paint to create texture in the water. I then began the sky and used a mixture of blue, light pink, white, yellow and orange paint.
This is abstract piece I stared based off a beach landscape photo I took in Costa Rica.
This is the painting of Costa Rica that I started. I began to add red paint so it would contrast all the green and give more detail. I decided to take a break from working on it right now and I am focuses on more abstract projects.
Both of these were done with black ink and india ink. I wanted to draw more abstract landscapes and wanted to create two different ones. The one with color has a happier feel and the black ink painting has a darker more mysterious feel.
Currently I am in the process of painting a landscape of mountains. It is based off of a photo that I took in Colorado. I am using acrylic paint and instead of brushes I have been using sponges and cardboard. This helps to create texture and make the painting look more abstract.
This is the beginning of my expressive drawing. I used India ink and a large ink brush on a large sheet of watercolor paper. I used a mixture of turquoise, dark blue and light blue. To get the lines to be "expressive" I just let my brush flow and changed the width and hardness of the stroke. I am not completely sure what "mood" I want the painting to reflect.
This painting is of Costa Rica and I have been working on it for awhile now. I used acrylics and at first I wanted it to be realistic but now I am working to make it seem more abstract. I am mostly finished with all of the different tones and I am beginning to add more detail. I'm adding some red because it contrasts with all of the green and gives the painting more expression and makes it more interesting.
Both of these drawings were done with charcoal. I like how the lines all flow together and the darkness of the drawing gives it a mysterious feel. I used a sharper piece of charcoal to get the deep black lines. I do wish I had done better on the proportions because I feel like the different body parts don't look right together.
This piece was made with modeling paint and acrylic paint. I feel like the colors and the stroke of the paint gives a calm feeling to this painting. My inspiration for this piece was the ocean and a sunset because I feel like both of those things are very happy and serene. I started by making the ocean sort of rough but then ended up blending most of it together so that it flowed when I blended it with the sky.
This picture was done with oil pastels and watercolors. I feel like I made it too structured though and would have like it to flow better. This does have a happy feel to it as the colors are very vibrant.
This painting was done with sumi ink. I liked this one better than the last because it was more abstract and the shadow ended up working well with the flowers and leafs. The ink blended smoothly together instead of being very structured. This painting has an ominous feel to it as it is dark and everything blends together.
I drew this shell using black and white charcoal. I used different edges of the charcoal to get thicker/thinner or darker/lighter lines. I feel like this really helped to give texture to the drawing. Though the drawing is all black, I feel like this picture has a calming mood to it as there's many light parts that seem to reflect.
