*NOT FINISHED* To find inspiration for this painting I looked through various fashion magazines and found a model posing in a dress that I thought could be fun to experiment with. I started off by staining the background blue and then I traced an outline of the girl. I slowly layered different tones of her skin to create a 3D effect. The paint chips were created by accident yet turned out to be an interesting texture, as well as the wire mesh.
This was painted based off of a photo I took in Colorado when skiing with my family. Colorado is a very important place to me because my family and I have been going to the same mountain for many years. I have made so many fun memories there and I wanted to create a painting based of this mountain. I started off by getting all the tones of the painting before I went in with more detail. To create the different strokes I used a mix of regular paint brushes, a sponge brush, and a piece of cardboard to get the rigid texture. The hardest part for me was to keep everything flowing together and not look too structured. I tried to be a little abstract with the mountains but if I were to do it again I would have been even less structured.
I created the two abstract pieces based off a still life structure. The structure looked like a plastic roller coaster with various objects underneath. I focused on the shape of the roller coaster part and chose to create my expressive drawings off of that. First, I used ink to create the general shape and color that I wanted to use. Then, in different areas I used a spray bottle so the ink would drip and mix together. I then went in with pastels and charcoal to define parts of the paintings. The first one I did has many colors and reminded me of graffiti. The second painting had more mysterious colors and a darker feel to it.
I created these two pieces based off of Chinese ink brush paintings of mountains. The first painting I did was with pure black ink. I tried to vary the thickness of the lines and the dryness of the brush. I decided I wanted to create a piece with color so I used a mixture of black ink and colorful India Ink. I did not intentionally add so much color but for my final step I just dripped the ink onto the page and let it mix together. I feel like both paintings have a mysterious and dark feeling to them.
