Who am I?
My name is Alexandra Collins and I want to work with children. I come from a small family with my mother as my closest relative. She is my confidante and someone who has always been one of my biggest supporters. I have a close-knit group of friends that are like an extended family and have taught me so much about myself and the world. I love to read, write, explore, have adventures, and laugh. I have an old cat, his name is Spud, and he is my guardian angel. But to return back to the question, who am I?
If you want to go deeper into the question, I am someone who cares, works hard, and listens. I care about the little things in life and look at the world with optimism. I care about my friends and family, without them in my life I would not be who I am today. My life was never a cake walk. I had an amazing mom to raise me and show me that if I put my mind to it, I can do anything. She showed me that I should never back down from a challenge or let others dictate my life. Do what makes me happy. There are going to be bumps along the way but things will always work out, those are her words and they have gotten me through some tough times. My friends are another source of my pride, I was able to find myself by surrounding my self with people who love and care about me. These are principles I want to bring into a future classroom when I teach.
I never put in half the work, I am always striving to do my best and give it my all. I care about my work and doing my best. I don’t give up easy and I make sure I am heard. Working toward this degree has been a lot of fun, there were some stressful times, but I learned a lot about the world, myself, and what it means to be teacher. It about always learning new things and never giving up. Being teacher is about taking all I have worked toward and putting it toward a meaningful subject. Giving the next generation a voice and means to learned everything they can.
I am a great listener as well; did you know Alexandra means listener. Coincidence I think not! But on a serious matter, I am passionate about working with young children. They see the world with unfiltered eyes. They see endless possibilities before them and I want to help foster that amazement. I want to listen to what they have to say and use that to create classroom where they can be heard. It is not going to be easy, there are going to be rough patches but life is a about learning all the time and working through those rough patches to come out a better person.
At the end of the day I am a daughter, a sister, someone to lean on, a caregiver, and a future teacher.
