Your 4th grader is learning all about Spanish-speaking countries and will create a presentation about their country of choice--completely in Spanish!
I encourage native Spanish speakers to use this as an opportunity to share about their own culture with the class and to bring any cultural artifact to supplement their presentation.
Here are some resources for your child to learn more about Spanish-speaking countries:
-Blooket: countries of South America
-Get Epic: Mexico, El Salvador, + many more informational texts!
In this unit your 4th graders learned key vocabulary for 'la ciudad' and are now able to articulate where they go around town using, "Yo voy a la tienda, yo voy a la escuela, etc.", meaning "I go to ______".
Here is a Blooket game your student can play to review the vocabulary from this unit.
Welcome to Spanish! This week, 4th grade will learn expectations in Spanish class and will practice routines/procedures. We will have a bilingual read aloud and students will set goals for the year. We will be reviewing los colores this week and practicing how to answer the question, "¿Cual es tu color favorito?" ("Mi color favorito es ______"). You may continue practicing colors at home along with asking students their name: "¿ Como te llamas?" "Me llamo _____".
*Remember: the double L 'Ll' in Spanish is pronounced "Y".
Here's a slideshow your student can use to review vocabulary.
Atentamente,
Maestra Amaral
In unit 1, 4th graders will learn Spanish vocabulary for each letter of the alphabet and will create a dictionary that can be used throughout the year. The goal of this unit is to expose students to new Spanish words while also empowering them to recall the language they have already acquired.
Here's some fun practice your students can engage in at home to promote their Spanish language development!
