I have only just copy/pasted this rough draft of a FAQ page for this class.
As a fairly new person myself, I have come across a lot of questions without a clear place to find the answer. I want somewhere new people can get basic answers to questions they couldn't articulate.
No matter what your question or interest is, we can get you an answer. Talk to your local Seneschal or Chatelaine and we’d be happy to help.
Do I need a costume to come to practice?
No. You can come in regular clothes. If you want to get started with garb, someone probably has a tunic you can use or some other way to get you looking festive.
How accurate does my garb need to be?
The SCA likes to see a reasonable effort. If you look like you fit in, that’s good enough. If you want to get more accurate, there are people passionate about period clothing who would love to help.
Is someone going to be snobby about my garb/tent/fighting ability?
Probably not. Everyone is just happy to share their hobby.
What do I need to bring to practice?
Whatever you need to be comfortable. It’s a much more casual gathering. Our practices have picnic tables, though many people like to bring their own camp chair. Bring water, there isn’t a drinking fountain. Bring a craft to work on, fighting gear, or just yourself to chat.
What to expect at some different Events?
This link has a lot of great info. What to bring, some ideas of what activities might happen, and some event etiquette.

What do I do at a Court Event?
Court events, like Investitures, have a lot of presentations of acknowledgements, favors, tokens, scrolls. There are processions of the new Courts in and the old Courts out.
It can entail a lot of sitting and listening. Some people like to bring a quiet craft like knitting.
There is usually a space people can go to just hang out and chat.
There are Arts & Science competitions, following a specific prompt. The populace is encouraged to help with Judging. Sometimes there are musicians and a dance lesson.
There is not a tournament or casual sparring.
How big are the Events?
