Traditional Discipline vs. PBIS

Traditional discipline focuses on stopping negative behaviors with some type of punishment.  PBIS focuses on preventing unwanted behaviors from occuring by providing and teaching expectations.  PBIS also rewards students for complying with expectations.

BSES has adopted Be a STAR Student as its PBIS pledge.  Students model being a STAR Student by: S - Show Respect, T - Treat Others with Kindness, A - Always be safe, R - Reach for the Stars!    STAR expectations were developed for all areas of campus.
