Throughout reading Yo Soy Carlos, you will be tasked with writing your own book in the same format. This will be an ongoing assignment that will coincide with the chapters we read in class, therefore it is important to realize that you should be keeping up with your own writing as we read.
Each chapter we read you will include information similar that in which you have read.
You are expected to use the same grammar style and vocabulary themes as the chapters that you have read to put your own personal twist on the story.
We will be using the online tool Book Creator to write your chapter book. The link to join our class can be found in your Google Classroom. Please keep reading below for the guidelines and expectations.
For each chapter you write, you will be expected to focus on the following guidelines:
El glosario: Here is where you will add each and every word that you learned and/or had to look up to successfully create your book. This should be the final page/pages of the book
This chapter should place emphasis in writing in the first person, using grammar associated with "YO" and demonstrate your abilities to conjugate verbs in the 1st person and change adjectives based on the nouns they are describing.
Who you are
What you are like
What you are not like (opposites from the prior bullet)
What you like to do

Lastly, you will be narrating your book, chapter by chapter, right inside of Book Creator.
For each page, record yourself reading it for your audience.
Focus on reading at a natural pace, with good quality Spanish pronunciation and diction.
Now that you've created your children's book, it's time to polish it up! Follow these steps to revise your writing and improve your audio recordings so your final product is clear, correct, and fun to follow—just like Soy Carlos.
✏️ 1. Text Revisions (Writing & Grammar)
Go back and carefully review your book page by page. Use the feedback you’ve received and check for the following:
✅ Spelling – Double-check accents and spelling, especially with common words (yo, gusta, es, etc.).
✅ Verb Forms – Make sure your verbs match the subject (Yo soy, Él tiene, etc.).
✅ Consistency – Keep your tenses and subjects consistent throughout.
✅ Simple & Clear Language – Remember, this is a book for kids! Use short, easy sentences.
✅ Vocabulary – Check that your words make sense in context. Use classroom vocabulary and phrases we’ve learned.
🔊 2. Voice Recording Revisions
Your voice recording is what brings your book to life! Listen to your original audio and revise as needed:
🔁 Re-record any parts where:
You mispronounced a word
You read too fast or too slow
You sound unsure or robotic (aim for expressive and confident!)
The audio is unclear or hard to hear
🗣️ Tips for Recording:
Practice reading your sentences out loud before recording
Speak slowly and clearly
Smile while you read—your voice will sound more natural and friendly!
Make sure there’s no background noise
📂 Final Check Before Submitting:
✅ All grammar and spelling corrections are made
✅ All suggested teacher edits are accepted or improved upon
✅ Voice recordings match the revised text
✅ Audio is clear and engaging
