The Tamaques Pride
October 7, 2022
Hello Tamaques! We had a successful "week of extra respect" which was highlighted by our first school-wide assembly in two years! We are always looking for ways to model and teach our students the importance of kindness, empathy, compassion and respect for all throughout the school year. With that, we understand children often make mistakes and sometimes bad decisions when it comes to communication and interactions with others. It is our goal to work and teach children the impact of these actions and provide them with the "tools" in order to better themselves both here and now and down the line.
An essential part of WOR are classroom read alouds and discussions led by our teachers, counselors and librarians. The following are a few books that were read this week: Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, One by Kathryn Otoshi, The Way I Act by Steven Metzger, Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks, Tomorrow I will be Kind by Jessica Hische, You are Enough: A Book About Inclusion by Margaret O'Hair & Sophia Sanchez, The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi, Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson and If Everybody Did by Jo Ann Stover.

STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN-SERVICE DAY
Like our students, our teachers are always "growing" and learning. Westfield teachers and staff participate in on-going Professional Development days throughout the school year.

Oct. 17- Picture Day-Order Form

NO PARKING ZONE
IMPORTANT- Our main office staff has been receiving phone calls from residents on Willow Grove Rd. that members from our TAM community are parking in the NO PARKING ZONE areas. This creates an extremely unsafe condition because of "blind spots" and not allowing enough room to pass. It is also a traffic violation to park within 50ft of a STOP sign. The Westfield Police has been notified and will be issuing traffic tickets for those in violation.
KEEP OUR KIDS AND COMMUNITY SAFE- DO NOT PARK IN THESE ZONES
At Tamaques, we like to call it the week of " EXTRA Respect" as we are always looking for way to model, teach and show others kindness, respect, empathy and compassion.
