Lessons have begun!
The Beginner Band is composed of 4th graders and 5th graders just starting an instrument. Instruments offered to beginners are flute, oboe, clarinet, alto sax, french horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, snare drum, and bells.
Students take lessons during the school day, learning an instrument using the method book Essential Elements for Band. Students are assessed each lesson using the MakeMusic program. Use of MakeMusic is also encouraged for home use.
This group has one performance in the spring.
The 5th grade ensemble consists of students that have studied their instrument for at least one year in the beginner program, and/or had previous private instruction. This group has two performances: a concert in the winter season and a spring concert.
