Performance Task 2: Practice Presentation
Your will present the results of your research to a panel of 2-3 people. This is a formal presentation and will include the use of digital presentation software, such as PowerPoint or Google Slides, along with an infographic used to compare and contrast the two careers researched.
Introduction
- Uses an appropriate hook/ attention-getter which clearly transitions to purpose of presentation
- Overview clarifies overall goal of speech and names careers investigated.
Memoir
- Narrative states or implies 1-2 character traits (soft skills) through a personal story
Infographic
- Presents and explains 2 careers with job descriptions as researched in paper
- Includes potential earnings, soft skills, hard skills and employment outlook for each career
- Compares and contrasts components of both careers
Argument
- Provides rationale for why one career is the best choice
- Provides three supporting reasons why career choice is the best for you, which may include:
- Character traits/ soft skills
- Hard skills- high school classes, internships, and/or certifications
- Passions and aptitudes
- Provides a counterclaim and rebuttal (example as follows)
- Counterclaim- "Although I possess these strengths, this career requires that I improve in the area of..."
- Rebuttal- "To overcome this, I will..."
Career Plan
- Identifies/ explains what else, aside from course work, student is doing to make this career a reality
- Explains education/ training needed for this career, where student is going to get it, and how long it will take to complete
- Identifies cost of training and how student plans to pay for training
- Address state license requirements, if any
Conclusion
- Addresses what student has learned through the project
- In addition may address one or both of the following
- What makes you a stand out applicant?
- What unique contribution will you make to your chosen profession and community?
