Uncovering Truth within stories
Stepping Stone 1: Crafting your story.

- Open and make a copy of the worksheet on the right.
Watch the video located below the worksheet called "Freytag." As you watch the video complete the worksheet.
The worksheet will then ask you to create a comic strip for the creation of your truth narrative. This narrative will be the focus for all assignments for all of Milestone 3 and 4. Here are some ideas:
*A time you meet someone and your opinion changed about them.
* A time when you didn't like something, but now you do.
* A time when you believed or felt a certain way, but that belief or feeling changed.

Stepping Stone 2: Writing your exposition

- Using the Freytag pyramid you completed in the last milestone, fill-out the graphic organizer to start your exposition.
- Open a Google doc and write the rough draft of the exposition.
- Turn in graphic organizer and rough draft in through Slate.
Stepping Stone 3: Understanding Transitions

1: Watch the video on the right titled "Trans in Narrative."
Stepping Stone 4: Writing your conflict and rising actions.
Conflict & Rising Action #M3A12
1: Use the graphic organizer "Conflict & Rising Action" to plan out your conflict and create some events that build tension. (If you need additional guidance and/or examples the graphic organizer contains links to helpful videos.)
2: Once you have completed the graphic organizer use it to write your conflict and rising action(s) paragraph.
3: Turn the graphic organizer and paragraph in through Slate.
Stepping Stone 5: Writing the climax and falling action.

1: Use the graphic organizer "Climax and Falling Action" to plan out your climax and falling action(s). (If you need additional guidance and/or examples the graphic organizer contains links to helpful videos).
2: Once you have completed the graphic organizer use it to write your climax and falling action.
3. Turn in your graphic organizer and paragraph in through Slate.
Stepping Stone 6: Writing the Resolution.

2: Write your resolution paragraph.
3: Turn in the graphic organizer and complete rough draft, including the resolution paragraph, into Slate.

Before moving onto the next Milestone complete the following steps:
Open the Competency Dashboard in Slate.
Get your ELA credit slip.
Using the scores in the Competency Dashboard fill in your credit slip.
Conference with your teacher about your score and how that translates into a percentage.
If you are happy with your grade move onto the next Milestone. If you are unhappy revise a Performance task and resubmit. Once you are satisfied with your grade move onto the next Milestone.
