My name is Ms. Lana and I am your Social Studies/ History teacher for the academic year of 2025-2026.
Many of you may know me -- you either were my students in the past, or saw me around the campus. I have been teaching at Wells Onnut for over 10 years, and this year, I am teaching Social Studies/History to all Grades 6 and 8.
I am originally from Russia, but I have been living abroad for over 20 years, with the last two decades spent in Thailand. I hold degrees in English Philology and English Linguistics, as well as a Master’s in International Education. My professional background includes positions at the United Nations ESCAP and St. Andrews International School Sathorn, among others. Nine years of my teaching career have been dedicated to teaching Social Studies and History to all secondary school grade levels.
Outside of work, I am passionate about traveling, photography, fashion design, and learning languages. I also enjoy exploring lesser-known world cinema, trying new foods, and spending time in nature. Animals hold a very special place in my heart.
As a teacher, I place a high value on discipline, integrity, honesty, and hard work. While I am always here to help and support you, I also expect a sincere effort from you in return. I do not believe in “easy” grades—your performance reflects the time, effort, and quality you put into your schoolwork. Likewise, there is no such thing as “free” time in class; our courses are content-rich, and every moment counts.
My goal is to challenge you, help you grow across a broad range of skills, and build your confidence as you prepare for higher grade-levels. At the same time, I believe that History is both fascinating and essential. It helps us understand and appreciate the world we live in. Throughout our lessons, we will explore connections between the past and the present, so you can see that historical events are not just textbook topics—they’ve shaped our lives and continue to influence us today.
Take a look at the Course Description and the Social Studies Department Standards for your grade level to understand what you will be learning this year and what is expected of you in this course.
