Wellesley Families of students in grades K-12 may elect to sign their child up to take instrument lessons through Wellesley's Instrument and Vocal Extension Program (IVEP).
In general music class, students learn about the four families of instruments - Brass, Woodwind, String and Percussion. They are invited to an assembly to hear professional musicians play these instruments, and in music class they learn about how the sounds are produced, how to change notes, and they will be able to pick up and touch most of the instruments. This helps students to identify an instrument they may want to learn to play. Watch this amazing of the Boston Symphony Orchestra to see all of the instruments!!! BSO Video
