Grade 3 is an exciting year! Students will continue to develop their singing voices and widening their repertoire. Students will also begin recorder instruction. The recorder is a baroque instrument that has been around for hundreds of years. Recorder is a wonderful opportunity for students to prepare for instrumental instruction, as they begin to make connections between their aural skills and finger dexterity. Students learn to read notes on the treble clef staff, and apply this musical literacy skill to the recorder.
Grade 3 students have the opportunity to choose to play all instruments in the string, woodwind, brass and percussion families. They are able to touch the instruments and hear them played by professional musicians.
