Students transition from Beginner Band into the Fiske Senior Band with a recommendation from their after-school lesson instrument teacher.

Dynamics
Accompaniment verses melody
Use of auxiliary percussion
Different Percussion techniques
How to count and play syncopation, dotted rhythms, ties, and more complex time and key signatures
How to indicate corrections in your part
Various types of articulations including slurring, staccato, and legato tonguing
How rehearsals are run
Practice techniques with metronome

Bates Beginning Band
Beginning Band will begin meeting Tuesdays in October. You will receive an email with information.
Students can join Beginner Band after they have taken a minimum of four lessons with their private teacher. Your child's private teacher will contact me when your child is ready to begin coming to these rehearsals.
