You may use "Excel tips for chem lab" as a reference.
Here are some tips that will be especially useful for the Enthalpy lab:
Scientific Notation: 4.5 x 10-4 should be entered as: "4.5E-4" or "4.5e-4"
To calculate an average, use "=averages(A1:F1)" to obtain the average for values in cells A1-F1.
To calculate a standard deviation, use "=stdev(A1:F1)" to obtain the standard deviation for values in cells A1-F1.
If using the same cell over and over in copied cells elsewhere in your table, such as when using the heat capacities "S" and "C" in the Enthalpy lab, you can 'freeze' that cell by placing dollar signs in front of the letter and number for "S" and "C" (i.e.-$M$4). Please see "Copying" notes in the Excel tips link above for more information on this REALLY helpful tool in Excel.
Please feel free to practice these tips in the attached Excel document titled, "NEWChem105LWorkshop04.xls".
