How do I get a good grade in Mrs. Babcock's class?
Use your class time wisely. Remember to pay attention and participate in class.
Turn your work in on time. Do not make it a habit to turn your work in late. I'm happy to help you work on skills to have balanced time management and stay organized!
Put effort into your work. Read and listen to directions carefully to make sure you show what you know.
Don't hesitate to ask for help. There's no shame in asking questions when you're confused.
Don't copy someone else's work. Not only can this be considered plagiarism and cheating, but you are hurting your learning. When you feel like copying someone's work, ask for help!
Unless arrangements for an extension are made with the teacher before an assignment is due, late work will receive the equivalent of a 65%.
Work labeled as "MIS" (missing) in Realtime is calculated as a 0% until it is turned in.
Written assessments = 15 points
Written assessments include AP-style document-based questions (DBQs), long essay questions (LEQs), and short answer questions (SAQs)
The breakdown below shows the AP Score = RealTime Score:
DBQ Scale
6 or 7 = 15
5 = 14
4 = 13
3 = 12
2 = 11
1 = 10
0 (Effort, but no points achieved on AP Rubric) = 9
LEQ Scale
5 or 6 = 15
4 =14
3 = 13
2 = 12
1 = 11
0 (Effort, but no points achieved on AP Rubric) = 9
SAQ Scale
3 = 15
2 = 13
1 = 11
0 (Effort, but no points achieved on AP Rubric) = 9
Multiple choice assessments = 1 point per question
All multiple choice assessments are curved by averaging the points with the equivalent of 100%. For example, if a multiple choice assessment is worth 10 points and a student gets 8/10, an 18/20 will be entered into RealTime as the score. 8/10 + 10/10 = 18/20
All other classwork assessments = 5 points (see 5 point rubric rubric below)
Classwork assessments = 5 points (see 5 point rubric below)
Major written assessments & projects = points vary depending on assessment
*All assignments due on Google Classroom are due by the assigned due date unless otherwise noted.
Students have the opportunity to rewrite any eligible written assessments after speaking with the teacher. Students who complete a rewrite will be given a rewrite due date as well as complete a reflection explaining how their writing has improved due to the rewrite. Rewrites will be regraded completely and the grade will be replaced. The higher of the two grades will be posted to RealTime.
Written assessments with scores that are curved do not have the opportunity to be rewritten.
