Built by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at a cost of £119, 140 14sh 10d (about 4 million pounds in todays money)

Launched 16 July 1943

Converted to Weather Surveyor at Blyth Drydock and Shipbuilding Co in 1961

HMS Rushen Castle was renamed Weather Surveyor and commissioned by Provost J. Reid of Greenock on 21st Dec 1961
