Because these are purposeful shoots are to fill in gaps on my board not all of them will have a specific artist model. Some shoots will have old artist models and others will have new ones. I will also only be doing small evaluations as these shoots are planned out for a specific purpose. To keep these shoots purposeful i will be setting limits for how many photos i can photograph the limit will range from 40-80 depending on the shoot
Ideas
This shoot i want to photograph more of the chapel, mostly interior to fill up more spaces on my board. I am photographing mostly interior because most of my work is exterior architecture and i want a range of both. I am going to also try focus on photographing a range of techniques listed below:
Shadow
Light
D.O.F
Shape
Location - School chapel
Artist Model Inspiration
After my shoot i will be adjusting some of my photographs to match the style of Ralph Gibson. He mostly uses this high contrast style on his photographs of people but i will be using it on buildings to create a less grey photo and create a noticeable difference between the shadows and light. I will use lightroom to create the same high contrast between black and white in my photos. I will be making these adjustments to photos from previous shoots and this shoot. These adjustments will be included in the contact sheet below.

What worked?
I think i focused on all the aspects that i had wanted to well because i explored a range of shapes, lighting, shadows and depth of field. It has given me more interior architecture content to work with on my board. I will need to go into the chapel again as i know i will need to cut down and photograph with even more purpose.
What didn't, how could this be improved?
I think i could have taken less photos, i did end up taking photos of quite a few similar things so it will take time to edit some down. I will need to straighten and adjust some of the photographs in lightroom so that will also be time consuming. I could've tried turning on the lights to create different lighting
Ideas
For this shoot i am focusing on specific aspects around the school, including signs, banners and the school symbol. I will also be re-photographing with the artist model Mauren Brodbeck to have a better use of this artist model. To keep this shoot purposeful i am setting a limit of 40 photos

Full Buildings
Artist model inspiration
As a part of this shoot i will be re-photographing specifically to the style of Mauren Brodbeck (This will not be for all of the photos in the shoot). I will better use her style by photographing the building from far away capturing the whole building. I will be creating more 'colour block' artworks through photoshop with colours specific to my theme. Instead of blocking out shapes or shadows on a building i will be blacking out the whole building with colour so it will be more obvious inspiration from this artist model. An example of her work that i will be taking inspiration from is below.

What worked?
This shoot worked well, it was very purposeful and has started my theme of the history of my school. The photos i took taking inspiration from Mauren Brodbeck worked really well and are a lot stronger representative of this artist model. I took some strong D.O.F photos
What didn't, how could this be improved?
The photographs i took of the signs aren't that interesting so i think i should look into re-shooting them with the artist model Natalie Robertson
My work taking inspiration from Mauren Brodbeck
Ideas
For this shoot i will be cutting and folding paper to create interesting shapes and shadows. I will also be photographing wooden shapes that i will purposely arrange. This shoot will be done in the studio using strong studio lighting to create the strong shadows.

Artist model inspiration
My inspiration for this shoot is Jerry Reed, He photographs in a studio and has a creative use of Fresnel lighting techniques, which highlights sharp or soft edges as well as master shadows. You can evidently see these features in the examples of his work below. I really like the way he layers and shapes paper to create a strong contrast and abstract look. I will be photographing in a similar way, using paper to create shapes and also using the studio for my shoot.

What worked?
After adjusting some of the photographs of the wooden shapes to be black and white with a high contrast i think they looked really good. Some of the photos of the folded paper looked interesting and created the shapes and shadows i wanted.
What didn't, how could this be improved?
I don't think i used my artist model Jerry Reed as well as i could have, my folded paper and the way i photographed didn't look as abstract as his style is however to improve this i could reshoot with more focus on the style of my artist model.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?
Next time i am going to print out my photos and fold them into cubes and other shapes. I will also do this shoot in the studio and stille focus on lighting and shape.
Ideas
I am going to be printing out old photos of the School onto A5 pieces of paper. I will be using a small lense to photograph the photos overtop of the current building to compare the difference over many years. This will create an interesting contrast between the new and old architecture and also help lead into the black and white further on my board.

Artist model inspiration
For this shoot i will be using a new artist model, Kenneth Josephson. he prints out photographs and holds them up to the location they were taken at years later. I will be printing out the historical photographs of Waikato Dio, comparing the photo of of the old building to the current one. Examples of his work are below

What worked?
I though holding the photos up myself may be difficult to get the right distance but because i use the smaller lense on the camera it was really easy and they turned out really well. To make some of my photos more interesting i overlay text about the building from a history book about the school, i think it made an effective look and it worked well on my board.
What didn't, how could this be improved?
I think next time it would be easier to have someone else hold the photograph because it was hard to get the photograph to be straight which lead to me having to make adjustment in lightroom. The lighting wasn't very good because the sun wasn't out, i could've waited for a better time to take this shoot.
What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?
To extend my idea i will be using artist models i have used previously, Irving Penn and Abigail Reynolds. I will be using the already printed out photographs, freezing some and then cutting up others.
Experimentation on photoshop
I decided to make my Jerry Reed shoot more interesting by adding in details onto the pieces of paper. The details i added were scans from images and information from the schools history book and i also added in the pattern from the Junior school skirt. I will be doing this on photoshop
I think this experimentation worked out really well and advanced these photographs and my ideas further. I used photoshop masking to add these images in and then used camera raw to adjust the images to have the right kinds of colour and lighting
Ideas
I will be printing out old photos of the architecture at dio and freezing them into different sized blocks. The meaning behind this is 'Frozen in time". For a moment not changing anything about these beautiful buildings and the history of my school.

Artist model inspiration
My artist model for this shoot is going to be, Irving Penn. Penn is one of the 20th century's greatest photographers known for his imposing printing making and striking images. His still life photos consist of formal compositions, with meaning behind each of his objects and placements of them, even with a specific colour palet running throughout the image. His central focus is normally on the object in the images and he photographs using a front on camera angle. I will be using Irving Penn's style for this photoshoot by doing a still life shoot in the studio with photos frozen into blocks, this is drawing inspiration from the images of his work below.

What worked?
This shoot worked really well, i experimented a range of angles but also kept it small and purposeful. Adding in the Dio colours coming through behind the ice and over the top was an effective idea to relate back to the colours i used for the Mauren Brodbeck shoot.
What didn't, how could this be improved?
The frozen circe wasn't good because you could hardly see the images and the shape doesn't relate to others on my board. Next time i could choose a shape that works better, maybe a triangle or another smaller or larger rectangle.
Ideas
I am going to be cutting up the photos i used for shoot 12 into different shapes and purposefully laying them overtop of each other. i will also print out present photos of the buildings to create a contrast between new and old. I will mostly focus on the chapel and cherrington as i have the most photos for those. I will be cutting these photos up evenly into squares and rectangles. The playing with these shapes will link to the shapes i explore through the architecture of the school.

I will be using Abigail Reynolds as inspiration for this photoshoot. Her practice is essentially collage, she creates her work by splicing together photographs that depict the same place, taken from the same angle by different photographers who are normally decades apart. She enhances the original photograph by creating assemblages out of repurposed photographs, magazines, atlases and other materials she finds. I will be using her style of work by printing out and cutting up my images, i will cut them into different shapes and play around with overlaying them in similar ways to Reynolds. The contrast between the old and new creates a meaning behind my photos, as Abigail Reynolds also has meaning behind her work.

What worked?
Again i experimented a range of ideas and kept the shoot small and purposeful. I think the contrast between the new and old buildings was really interesting and it is an effective idea to show my idea of comparing the old and new.
What didn't, how could this be improved?
The different angles in the way the printed photos were shot didn't allow me to line it up perfectly, i could've tried photograph the new building on the same angle. I also didn't experiment with standing the images up straight and photographing from overtop like what my artist model does.
New Artist model David Hockney and Natalie Robertson
I am going to be creating a grid out of one photograph using inspiration from the artist model David Hockney. I will be using a photo from shoot 14 and connecting it together using indesign

My work
To make my sign work more interesting i went out and photographed them at night using inspiration for the artist model.

Ideas
For this shoot i will be photographing the Waikato Dio history book. This is to make the start of my board make sense leading into the old photographs. This shoot will be done in the studio and i will photograph both the inside and outside of the book. I don't have an artist model for this shoot because it already has purpose and i know what i want to be photographing.
