Third grade utilizes a standards-based report card similiar to those in first/second grade. Even though grades will not be noted on the report card, many individual daily assessments will be given a numeric grade to help you understand how your child performed on those assessments. It is important, however, not to stress too much about individual grades on specific work, but instead, focus on how well your child understood concepts being assessed. If, at any time, a student is experiencing difficulty with certain concepts, the information will be reinforced at a later time in an effort to increase understanding and, hopefully, mastery of the concept. That said, it is important that you are aware of your child's progress in mastering the concept, which is why it is important that numeric grades are given for specific assessments.
