Isn't that the biggest question when teachers introduce a new reading? I think at the very least, we owe it to students to answer that question. Learning matters, and so does reading. Sharing with my classroom why exactly we are learning and reading the things we are is a must for me. Students will only care about their work and learning if we answer the "why".
