We know preparing to attend middle school can bring out all kinds of emotions from excitement to nervousness, and everything in between! We are here to help make the transition as smooth as possible, and answer any questions you may have along the way. Please see below for useful information. In the spring, we will have counseling lessons in your child's 5th grade classroom, discussing the differences between elementary school and middle school, allowing them to share their concerns and to ask questions to help them feel more comfortable and prepared. Students will register for middle school electives before our April track-out. Additional information can be found on the district website: https://www.wcpss.net/rising6th

On March 5, 2026 we will hold a middle school parent night to share information about the transition to middle school. The session will NOT be about any particular middle school (see below for middle school open house nights at individual middle schools), but about what to expect as your 5th grader transitions to middle school. We also will record the session for those who can't make it!
Wake County has provided a Planning Guide to help you know what to expect as you transition to middle school! This is information parents/guardians and students can go over together to help you have a better idea what middle school will be like. We know you will do a GREAT job! Please know we are here for you, and remember ... YOU'VE GOT THIS!!! :-)
