Hello, West Lake Wallabies! I am delighted to be part of the West Lake team, and am excited to help each student become the best version of themselves! I came to North Carolina for college at Duke, and have happily called our beautiful state "home" ever since. My wonderful husband and I have been married for 26 years, and have five fantastic kids and a son-in-law, ages 15 to 24. My husband and kids have always been Tar Heel fans, so they were thrilled when I went to UNC to earn my Masters in School Counseling! Now I figure I win no matter which team wins. :-) I enjoy spending time with family, working with young people, and always learning more. My dad was a great example to me of helping people, continual learning, and discovery; he gives me a great example for which to strive. Being a school counselor is the most natural extension of myself I can imagine, and I am thrilled to have a job where I truly enjoy coming to work each day and interacting with our amazing students, staff, and families!
Hello, West Lake Wallabies! My name is Jennifer Lee and I am thrilled to become a part of the West Lake Team! I am originally from NY, however I have called our beautiful state of North Carolina my “home” since moving here in 2007. For as long as I can remember I wanted to work with young children. I graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education and taught first and second grade for 8 years. While teaching, I realized my true passion was to become a school counselor to advocate and empower children to recognize their strengths. In 2014, I received my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from NC State and I have been a school counselor for the last 8 years. My husband Chris, and I have been married for 6 years and we have two beautiful 4 year old twins, named Connor and Julianna. They are the absolute joy of my life! When I am not working with young children as a school counselor my family and I love spending time outside, going to the beach, and cheering on our favorite sports teams...the UNC Tarheels and the SYRACUSE ORANGE!! I love being a school counselor and I cannot wait to start interacting with the amazing students, staff, and families who attend West Lake!
Hi! My name is Jennifer Stehle and this is my first year serving as school social worker at West Lake Elementary! Prior to this I worked for 13 years as a Child Protective Services Social Worker in Chatham County. I'm thrilled to be a Wallaby and have 2 of my own at WLES, a 1st grade and 4th grade girl! We have 2 dogs, Chloe and Cooper. In my spare time, I love to travel, go to Hurricanes Hockey games and spend time with my family!
I received my BSW from Meredith College in 2006 and my MSW from ECU in 2007. I'm also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I can help families with attendance issues, food, clothing, holiday assistance, families experiencing displacement, and much more! I am looking forward to getting to know all of the amazing students and families at West Lake Elementary!
Hello! I’m Cherie Urban and this is my eighth year serving as the school psychologist at West Lake Elementary School. In addition to WLES, I also serve Apex High School. Since I work at two schools, I’m here at West Lake ES approximately 2 ½ days a week; currently I’m here on Wednesdays, Fridays and most Mondays. I came to Wake County in 2015 after working for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for 17 years, but I’m originally from Erie, PA . I received my Master’s in Educational Psychology, followed by my post-grad certification in School Psychology, from Edinboro University of PA, but also have degrees in Elementary and Special Education. In my free time I enjoy reading, music and musicals, cooking, dance, taking walks, spending time with family (I have two adult children), and boating. Having grown up north of Pittsburgh, PA I'm a huge fan of the Steelers and Penguins. I enjoy working with students of all ages in a variety of ways. I'm excited to be working again with the students, staff, and families at West Lake this year!
