Every Adult Has a Role to Play

Social-emotional learning is a schoolwide effort, and everyone has a role to play—regardless of their position in the school. Adults who know the core elements of the Second Step® program can consistently model the skills and reinforce students’ use and development of the skills throughout the day, in and out of the classroom. When all adults in a school know and use the program’s common language and skills in their daily interactions with each other and with students, they create a consistent schoolwide climate, rich with opportunities for continuous social-emotional learning and growth for everyone.

• 20 lessons: 1 lesson per week of SEL learning time

• 4 Units:

  • Growth Mindset and Goal Setting

  • Emotion Management

  • Empathy and Kindness

  • Problem Solving

• Data driven, evidence based, and culturally responsive curriculum

• Aligns with SIP Action Plan

• Lessons last around 20 minutes with opportunities for extension activities
