On this page you will find information you will need during your junior year of high school. If you need additional information or have questions, reach out to your school counselor.
Students, make an appointment with your counselor by going to Student Services before/after school or during lunch. You can also make an appointment using your counselor's link under the "Meet the Team" section of the homepage.
Parents, please EMAIL or CALL the counselor directly.
Consider taking practice tests and taking prep courses. Research the colleges you are interested in to see if test scores are optional, or required.
Prepare to take the ACT (required) or the SAT (optional) during junior year by reviewing the information posted on our ACT/SAT page (or use the navigation College/Career > College Planning > ACT/SAT)!
It is important to take challenging courses that help you be competitive for college admissions, however it is equally important to do the best you can, get the best grades possible, and raise your GPA. (The transcript sent to colleges will often only include 9th-11th grades until 12th grade transcripts are updated).
One of the best ways to get a feel for the environment and culture of the school, and decide if it is one of your top choices is to visit them! Get a campus tour and speak with an admissions counselor.
You can also view our Visiting Colleges page (College/Career Development > College Planning > Visiting Colleges) to see a schedule of when representatives will be on WFHS's campus.
Be sure to use a personal email address that is professional! You will not have access to your school email after you graduate.
Practice writing and get teacher edits and feedback. See your school counselor for additional guidance.
Focus on 4-6 top choices. Have a "reach" school and a "safe" school choice.
