Objective 1- Evidence and Reflection
Over the course of the 18/19 academic year the Media Coordinator used collection development resources from Convergence and journal reviews along with funds from school and PTO to add over 70 new diverse library books. In addition, Baucom was awarded $750 from Wal-Mart to purchase and additional 53 books to diversify our collection.
Objective 2 -Evidence & Reflection
MTAC members participated in Diversity and Socio-Emotional Learning trainings. These sessions will help inform decisions moving forward about how to better equip our school for technology access for all and with high quality library resources.
Based on a Convergence session, we also created a board book collection to allow broader access to library materials for our youngest users. PreK and AU1 students were able to check out library books this year for the first time.
Objective 1
MTAC members completed a technology inventory using CHWI (now obsolete) to identify and/or any devices that will not migrate to the Windows 10 operating system. 66 devices have been ERD'ed with an additional 64 still in the building to be used until WCPSS discontinues support of them. For these instructional devices, we plan to remove those once new teacher devices arrive, and the previous teacher devices can be re-imaged as student ones. We have made a small number of purchases in the instructional, administrative and operational arenas to begin making a dent in our technology needs. 3 laptops were purchased for the computer lab for student use, 3 circulation machines were purchased for the Media Center, and 2 were purchased for the Administrative office.
Objective 2
The Media Coordinator participted in a Budget & Resources PLT in January 2019 to get a broader understanding of the budget landscape in WCPSS. The session from Donna Moore and Sharon Loeffler was instructive and helped us understand the funding and deadlines of school budgets. In February the Principal and Media Coordinator met with Kevin Harvey from Technology Services to learn more about plans for the recently approved bond money and how those might impact our school-based technology decisions. The MTAC participated in the decision-making of where PTA-purchased flat panel displays would be placed.
