Meet Mrs. Furnier

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at White Oak Elementary, and to your second grade class! I am so excited to be joining your explorer! My name is Melissa Furnier and I begin my 26th year of teaching. I have teaching experience in grades two through middle school and previously taught at Morrisville Elementary. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but have lived in North Carolina for the past 34 years. My husband and I are the proud parents of two grown sons and have a sweet granddaughter that joined our family in 2021!

I strongly believe that each child has many strengths and abilities. I will work hard to challenge and inspire your student as he/she progresses through his/her second grade year. I will use many activities and methods to assist each student in meeting his/her goals. Students will learn their own unique learning style and I will incorporate those learning characteristics in my teaching methods. I also hope to guide your student to become more independent and to become a critical thinker.
