Welcome to my Google Site! You may have been familiar with my previous Blog.
My name is Peggy DePasquale and I am beginning my 19th year at Pleasant Union. When I started teaching here, my youngest daughter was in 4th grade, and she is now 27! My oldest daughter also attended Pleasant Union. She is now 31 !
I grew up in Durham, NC. I am a graduate of East Carolina University, where I received degrees in Music Therapy and Music Education. I taught for 6 years in Durham, NC. Took a few years off to raise my daughters.
I feel so fortunate to work with the amazing teachers and children at this school, not to mention doing something I love.
It is my hope that your child will not only choose to have music in their daily activities, but will have their creativity nurtured and their spirits uplifted by it. During these crazy times in our world, I find that music is a wonderful companion as well as a healthy escape.
Music experiences can be a source of joy for a lifetime, while teaching discipline, perseverance and providing rewarding social interactions. Research consistently shows that students exposed to music education have higher rates of academic success. Music also requires courage and collaboration, critical thinking skills and patience. All character traits we want in our children!
I truly believe Music is Magic!
