Field Trip to BeeLoved Garden
PME will be hosting its annual Boosterthon Fun Run at Fred Fletcher Park on Wednesday, April 8. First grade will be running beginning at 9:00 a.m. Families are welcome to bring a chair, a sign, and a refreshing water bottle to watch and cheer on all of our runners!
First graders will get an opportunity to explore a whole world of natural sciences with 3 separate field trips over the next two months. First up, we travel to Laurel Hills Park on Friday, March 6, 2026 to learn about animal habitats. Activities include a hands-on bird learning experience, netting in the pond for tadpoles and insects, and a nature scavenger hunt. Next, first grade travels to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences right up the street on Tuesday, March 24, 2026! Students will participate in a program hosted by museum educators titled "Backyard Animals," in support of our current unit focused on birds' (and all animals) needs. Finally, our first graders will walk to the BeeLoved Community Garden on Thursday, April 9, 2026. There, students will connect their learning about a community garden transformation to an ELA text we study and extend their learning about decomposers. We need "all hands on deck" for our walking field trip. If you are interested in chaperoning, please return the chaperone interest form.
