Social Studies
This year we will dive into the founding of the United States and North Carolina. Students will Think Like Historians by practicing investigating, asking questions, research, and create! In Social Studies, we will build on students' reading skills using annotations, summarizing, and organizing. History is made everyday, and students will grow to understand history isn't memorizing dates and events; it is how each person experiences it and learns from it!
8th Grade Social Studies: US and NC History
This year we will learn about the history of the United States and North Carolina- how they developed into what we are today. We will start with geography and how it impacted the development of our economy, government, and society. We will use a variety of sources- from primary sources to videos; from Broadway musicals to cheesy parodies; from paintings to posts. We will learn how to question and investigate to find our answers.
